Connecting to spearker remotely

I'm looking for a speaker that i can have connected at home playing spotify, youtube, etc. that I can control the volume of via my phone remotely from work.

Thanks for reaching out, that is a good question. I would be more than happy to give you an answer! 

In order for your phone to control the Google Home/Nest device, it requires that both devices are on the same WiFi network. So unfortunately, you would not be able to control the volume from your phone while you at work.
