How do I know if an older receiver can be controlled with Google Home? Is there a listing in the specs for the receiver which I can reference? Or does Google list Brands/Model of units that are compatible?
also, if the receiver is compatible, can Google Home power on/off the receiver? Can it control the volume of the receiver? What other receiver functionality can it control?

Hello Rnaval,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
Please note that we don't have a list of supported receivers or smart devices that can be controlled using Google Home or Nest devices. I do recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your preferred brand and check with them if the receiver is compatible with our speakers and displays. In case your receiver is not supported, you can use a smart plug so you can turn on or off the receiver via voice command. Also, you can look for a "Matter"-supported receiver and be able to connect it to Google.
Please check the articles below to learn more about connecting smart devices on the Google Home app:
Hope this helps.

I’ve done a little research and discovered that Receivers with HEOS such as Denon and Marantz are supported by Google Speaker. Smart plugs cannot be used to power on today’s receivers which require an additional step to power on by pressing the physical power button or using the remote.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing that information. I can confirm that HEOS is one of Google's partner apps. Simply search for the HEOS in the Google Home app, link it with your HEOS account, and follow the instructions on screen.
Have a look at this guide: INSIDE DENON Google Assistant
