I keep seeing articles saying Google is shutting down Nest and will no longer be supporting Nest Devices. The only specific devices I've seen mentioned are a smoke alarm and lock, but the wording in most of these articles sounds like Google is step by step shutting down all Next devices and this is just the first 2 on the chopping block.
I have a Nest Display and bought a Thermostat a few months ago. Are there further plans to shut these, and other Nest devices down? Can I get a refund for the thermostat I just bought, if it's going to be turned into a $100 paperweight?
I am having serious doubts Google would be selling products it plans to cut support to, but I also wouldn't put it past them either. Just hoping for some clarification amid click bait headlines and vaguely written articles.

Hi all,
Thanks for posting in the community page.
@LushMelody, I understand your concern about the availability and support of some Nest devices, especially the Nest x Yale Lock and the Nest Protect. Don't worry, I'm here to help resolve your questions.
We'll not end support for existing Nest devices, including the Nest Protect and the Nest x Yale Lock. However, we're no longer manufacturing new units of these devices as we explore new opportunities to create and improve our product line. I understand that this information may be confusing. I suggest you read the following article, which provides more details and answers some of the most common questions: Upcoming changes to our device portfolio - featuring Nest Protect and Nest x Yale Lock.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out – we're always happy to help in any way we can.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Nest speakers disappeared from the Google store in Australia a while ago, but they still have a "Get notified" button to press when the Nest Hub 2nd Gen stock comes back in.
With the recent tariff war in the US it might soon be cheaper to buy Google products in Australia than in America.

Good to know, thank you. It'll be better to buy everything anywhere but the US for quite some time to come, sadly.

Thank you Jonathan! That article very much helped and answered my questions. That article should be a lot easier to find, as it actually gives detailed information other Nest users are likely also trying to figure out. I appreciate you taking the time to share the article. 😊
