Favorite radio station suddenly won't play - Melbourne Australia

Robbo9
Community Member

Have been listening to Triple M FM Melbourne for a year with out issue.  Suddenly today it plays a different station from what I'm asking for.  After a little investigating, I find that radio stations that are linked to either iHeart and Tunein are being played, but nothing via the Listnr app.  Has the Listnr app been dropped.

"Help" pages instruct to arrange your radio requirements via    Media>Manage your system>Radio (button)   But there is no Radio button (Only Music, Video, Podcast or Create Groups)

also and then saying "reboot your speakers and Wifi" like we didn't try that already. i updated the app, rebooted the device it's installed on and unplugged everything...give me a break. as if it was OUR problem.

REMEMBER .... Google Is FILLED with LIBERALS, and what does Liberals Do Best? BLAME OTHERS for Messes THEY Caused!!

Same problem has happened with me.  I woke up this morning with no ability to play any radio stations on my google mini's.  Yesterday was fine.  Do we just wait to see if this gets resolved by google?

As of 04/11/23 iHeart Radio and all their wonderful radio channels that I have listened to for the last several years on my Google Home system with Nest speakers no longer works.  For that matter the same with Sirius XM channels, and some Spotify Channels too.

Now the response that Google Assistant returns when you ask to stream your music, and/or radio channels is the same ridiculous.....  "I looked for (insert your music or channel name) and it either isn't available or can't be played right now".

Does anybody at Google know if this problem will get elevated to the point of someone or some team actually fixing this issue, or will the overall quality and experience of using the "Google Home System with Nest" just continue to degrade get worse and worse?   (Seems to be the trend from Google starting with the volume control issue for Nest Speakers that Google never provided a work-around for that originated back in Dec of 2021 and continues to this day)

I just changed Wi-Fi providers. Re-installed my Google Mini so it shows up in the Google Home app. And I have Sirius XM linked to my speaker.  But Google says “voice actions aren’t  available for that app.” Any idea? suggestions? Help! Thanks, Jerry

Have had no issue for years, suddenly won’t connect to radio stations . When request made responds with “I don’t know but I found this in search”.

have tried every trouble shooting solution, signed in to 9 the network concerned.

rebooted everything, all to no avail. Am guessing it’s an issue with the radio apps but unsure.

Hey Sandyt1,

Thanks for bringing this up.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Google Nest devices while using radio. Could you tell us when did you notice these changes? Also, kindly list down all the radio stations that are not working every time you try to ask it? Lastly, could you please provide the exact commands that you have tried so we can also try it from our end?

We'd love to know more of it so we can start some steps that might resolve this.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Princess

Have used for around 2-3 years no problems.

issues started perhaps 2 months ago, when nest intermittently failed to respond. However it stopped completely around a week ago. The only stations it can’t connect are 3AW Melbourne and 2GB Sydney. Seems ok on all other stations. Commands used/tried. Hey Google play 3AW,  Hey Google play 2GB,  Hey Google play 3AW on iHeartRadio, Hey Google play 3AW Melbourne/2GB Sydney  .

Hi Kizza1 is is 6PR you are having trouble with? If so it is a sister station to AW & GB both part of the 9 stable.

I did check. 720 abc perth and 96fm work. 94.5 and tripple m and 6pr don't

I am having the same issue. I have tried with local NPR stations WFPL and WFPK which I listen to almost daily on my Google devices. The last time I listened for sure was last week. I have also tried with KEXP since that was a suggestion made by my assistant when examining a routine that included playing the radio. I have altered the command with varying degrees of specificity including, e.g., Play WFPL, Stream WFPL, 89.3, 89.3 FM, 89.3 Louisville, LMP News WFPL, and many variations to include combinations of those commands. I have also tried asking for TuneIN or IHeartRadio. Previously, simply asking to "Stream WFPL" or "Play WFPL" was always sufficient.

Has anyone had issues with AM Radio stations not being able to be played all of the sudden?

We have been listening to 3AW in Melbourne Australia for the last couple of years so very strange to get this message.

I get a message “I can’t do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices”

I have done a factory reset as well as normal reset

FYI, looks like this is fixed for me, and I can play multiple stations via voice command on my pixel phone and mini again.

It's been now a week since 3AW (and it would seem going by the conversations) and many more radio stations have been unavailable on Nest devices. I suspect they won't be up and running again anytime soon. Google as an IT company would be more than capable to resolve technical issues like this in a short time frame and have it resolved by now. I'm wondering if it goes deeper than technical even down to licensing  agreements etc. If so it may never be resolved. These are my suspicions only and I have nothing concrete to base them on.

Asking Google Assistant to play any Sirius channel or iHeart Radio with no luck. Response I get from Assistant is "I looked for the 80's on 8 on SiriusXM, but it either isn't available or can't be played right now".  Tried on my Pixel phone, in my vehicle, pixel buds, and Google speakers....nothing!

Hope this gets figured out soon.

I'm in the US (Northeast Ohio area) and this all started working again for me this morning, on my pixel 5 and on my 2 Google home minis. Tried multiple radio stations that use different apps and they all played via voice command this morning!

My Google Minis started playing streaming radio again this morning. Happy that this bug has been fixed!

My Nests are working this morning. I can get the BBC through TuneIn, and WNYC through NPR.

I'm in the US

Thank you to the engineers who made the fix.

All of ours are working properly now!!

this morning the assistant will play named call stations. If I ask, for example, play KAZU from TuneIn. So an improvement however, if I ask to play “KAZU from NPR“ it is still unable to properly interpret the command.

I am in Santa Cruz, California

Got onto support yesterday, explained that radioapp was removed as a choice to play Australian stations, woke up this morning and radioapp is back on and playing all the stations.

I can get MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM to play, but Hey Google still insists on playing MSNBC on YouTube rather than on Sirius XM when I simply say, "Hey Google, play MSNBC on Sirius XM.". If I say,"Hey Google, GHT3 unable to play MSNBC via Sirius XM" (without preceding it with a request to log feedback), it for some r we as in plays MSNBC on Sirius XM.  Kind of a mess, but better than yesterday.

Sirius XM will play on the Google speaker when I play it from my phone. I just can’t use the voice commands to change stations. Not a very smart speaker
