I have 6 Nest Audio speakers, but only one has the current firmware. I tried the complete reset option, but the firmware will not update to the current version. What can I do? I have frequent connectivity issues when casting even while my wifi is solid. Am hoping updated and matching firmware in stereo pairs will help.

I don't think we as customers have any control at all over when Google Nest pushes out firmware updates to our devices. Other posts in this forum indicate the same thing, and Google Nest's help page says only this:
"Firmware updates are done in stages. The production firmware versions listed here are updated once the version is available to all devices."

Hey Rich7,
I wanted to check in and see if you managed to see MplsCustomer's post. Please let me know if you have any questions from here. I would be happy to review.
Thanks so much MplsCustomer for the reply.

I did see his post. It was helpful in that he pointed out others have had similar complaints about firmware updates. I think it's quite disappointing and am surprised nothing is being done about it. I'm accustomed to updating the firmware on my Fuji cameras myself.
Perhaps it has something to do with Sonos patent infringement issues.

Hey folks,
Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just an added question: what country are you located in? Please note that all Google Home/Nest devices should automatically update to the latest firmware via an OTA update (over-the-air update), if the device receives power and is connected to the internet. If your device hasn't received the update, please try the steps below:
Keep us posted.

As a longtime Google Nest customer, I would say it's ridiculous the customer has to do all this just to get the device to update to the latest firmware. We can update all of our non-Google devices by simply checking for or requesting an update.

Hey BoneDaddy,
To confirm, are you having issues creating a speaker group as well? What is the current firmware version of your devices?
@MplsCustomer: I totally understand that troubleshooting can be frustrating, but those are the most helpful steps to figure out what's going on with your device. Also, are you having issues updating your devices as well?

Muddi

Thanks Muddi,
The Nest Mini will pair L&R into a group without issue. However, the Nest Audio will not pair into a group. Here are the firmware versions for both Nest Audio:
System firmware version: 306594
Cast firmware: 1.56.306594
System firmware version: 299498
Cast firmware: 1.56.299498

Hi BoneDaddy,
To confirm, are you pairing the devices or are you creating a speaker group? For stereo pairing, both devices need to be the same model (Example: 2 Nest Mini speakers or 2 Nest Audio speakers) and located in the same room. Visit this link to know more.
If you want to stream your media to several speakers throughout your home, learn more on how to create and manage speaker groups.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi

I have not tried resetting all of my 14 speakers and deleting Google home from my laptop and phone. I have completely reset multiple pairs of my speakers, but the firmware will not update. I'm wondering if the problem might be that I did not choose to accept the option to send data usage specifications to Google when setting up my speakers. Could that be the reason why the firmware will not update?

Our Nest Hubs do not update their firmware if they are reset. When the firmware gets updated is entirely under the control of Google Nest. One of our Nest Hubs persists in staying on an older version.

Hi Rich7,
Updates are being sent automatically via OTA. Are you having issues on your Nest speakers now? If so could you tell us exactly what's happening?

Juni

Well some of aren't getting the firmware updates. The current firmware version for the Nest Mini and the Nest Audio ends in 313652. I have 6 Nest Audio and 6 Nest Minis up and running. None of them are up to date.
I'm having a variety of problems including not being able to delete speaker pairs/groups that show up in my Other Device category even after I designate them to a specific room.
I just tried deleting the Google Home app, but all my speaker pairs were restored when I reloaded the app, including the problem childs.
I was hoping that getting the latest firmware would help get me on the right path to sanity.
When we set up a Mini or Audio speaker, do we need to say Yes to the optional Send Usage Data to Google in order to get firmware updates?

Hi Rich7,
Thanks for the response. Let's create a new home structure, then set up your Nest speakers there. Observe if the old speaker groups are still showing. You can also use another mobile phone to further isolate the issue. Check the steps below on how to create a new home structure.
Create a home:
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Juni

Thanks for the suggestion. I deleted my home with and all the groups and pairs remained. I created a new home with a different name now but problems remain.
