For the last couple of weeks I have been having an issue with the Good Night routine, when I set it, it asks "What time it should set the alarm for", however when I tell it what time to wake me up, it tells me that it does not understand the command and stops the whole routine.

Hi Yandso,
This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Were there any recent changes made?
It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:
If the issue persists, kindly remove and create a new routine. See the link below for additional steps:
Keep us posted.
Best,
Dan

I have attempted several replies to the email I received about this issue, however they get bounced back saying no such user. At any rate, I am having the issue on my Google Nest Hub, and my Pixel 5 phone. No changes have been made to the system, I have rebooted all devices multiple times. I tried to delete the routine, however (my guess) since it is a Google pre-defined routine (not one I created) I cannot delete it I can only disable it. Seeing as there several other posts from users with the exact same issue, it seems hard to believe that it is not a back end issue.

Hey Yandso,
My apologies for the delayed response. To confirm, are you able to set up an alarm via voice command? Please try creating a custom routine and using the same actions that you have with your "Good Night" routine. Let's see if your device has the same behavior.
Also, please note that you will not be able to reply to email notifications from Community Forums. You have to click the link provided in the email, and you'll be directed to your thread. You can reply from there.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers,
Muddi

I tried recreating the automation, however the Goodnight/Bedtime automation is a premade and the option to add an alarm (as it is in that automation) is not available. I did however create one with the custom attribute of "Set Alarm" which did work. I then I changed it to the verbiage used in the original Goodnight/Bedtime automation which is "Ask what time the alarm should be set for" and again it did not work. So to sum up if you use the generic "Set Alarm" it works, if you try to use the automation that is built into Google Home Goodnight/Bedtime automation it does not work.

The issue is still there, there is another closed thread reporting the problem has been solved by Google… well for me it’s still not working. After asking what time the alarm must be set for, it starts to search the internet for (for instance) “7 o’clock”.

At this point I have gotten no useful help. The only thing I have gotten is "Try to fix it yourself". I would even be happy with acknowledgement that it is a backend problem and they are working on it. But they keep trying to find issues with my personal settings even though this exact issue has been reported by multiple people. Very frustrating to say the least.

Yes, it’s annoying… I know more people with the same problem. Perhaps switch to Amazon Alexa is the only option remaining …

Hi folks,
Understood. Try creating a new home and observe if the routine will work. Check out the steps below on how to create a new one.
Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.

No unfortunately the only attempt at an answer I have received is either delete it, which you can't or re-create it also which you cannot. Funny enough I posted this to Googles support and they immediately responded with "Yes this is a known issue, they are aware of it and are looking into it. ". Of course I have not heard back from them since so the issue is still persists.

Hello Yandso,
We hear you — we can understand why you feel that way. Could you try to use another Google account so we can isolate this?
I look forward to your response.

Juni

Hi Juni,
Thanks for the response. However if you look through the posts you will see that there have been many people that have reported the exact same issue. I have also forwarded this issue to Google support and their reply was that they were aware of the issue and would hopefully be able to address/fix it in the future. Of course that was also some time ago so who knows. In the mean time I have replicated the functionality of that routine.

The bedtime routine is working again …
I did create a new home and deleted it shortly after as it could not find any devices. Unclear to me is if this creation of the new home triggered something or that another update fixed the issue.
