Since about a week and a bit ago, my two google home mini speakers have stopped doing their job. They almost always respond (after a good 20 seconds) with 'there was a glitch' or 'something went wrong'. Very occasionally (less than 1/20th of the time), one of them will work. Rebooting (power cycle) or reset with the button has been known to make them work for a few requests, but after that they go back to being pretty much useless again. Sometimes they come right by themselves and work for a few minutes, then go back to their old ways.
I would suspect a fault, but both my units are doing the same thing...

Is the wifi signal low where these devices are? Could just be a bad connection. If power cycling dosnt work then do a factory reset on both devices , this should clear any cobwebs in the programming .

Thanks for responding.
Both of them are literally situated right next to routers, with no obstruction. I'd be using wired connections, if they had them.
I already tried factory resets - this makes them work for a short while (read minutes) before they start acting up again.

This may sound odd but can you make sure they are about 5 feet from your routers or more ? If they are too close that can cause overpowered signals which can make them not work. Sounds odd but from my own experience I know it can work .

One more question, when was the last time you rebooted your router ?

That's a good call. I'll give that a go when I get a chance. The more distance thing would be interesting, but not really practical for me. One of problems with this is that they *tend* to work for a bit after rebooting, which would be pretty necessary in a relocation, so I'd have to do it to somewhere they could *stay* for some time just to check if the solution would work...

Hi All,
First, thank you Ashepherdson for helping on this thread!
Hello greywolfnz and KG60615, just wanted to check in. Have you tried Ashepherdson's suggestion of rebooting your router? Does this issue still occur after trying that troubleshooting step?
Please keep us updated, we're here to help! Thank you.

I'm having the exact same issue. I reboot my router and AP's about once a week. My speakers are more then 5 ft away from the AP. I have 5 mini's around the house and they are all having this issue.
