Google Home group not working - Sony + Google Devices

EnricoS

Dear all,

I have a problem very similar to the one described in the following link:

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Home-group-not-working/td-p/3193...

In my network I have:

- Speaker sony srs-x99

- Speaker sony srs-x88

- Speaker sony srs-x77

- Google Mini 1°gen

- Google Hub 1°gen

- Google Home 1°gen

The group with all speakers no longer works.

Work alone or sony devices together or google devices together.

Until November 2022 (more or less) everything worked fine.

Please, help me.

Thanks

Hey EnricoS,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. My apologies for the delays.

I know how challenging it is when your Google Home and Nest speakers/display are not working with your Sony speakers when in the speaker group. To confirm, are you able to cast music from your phone to Sony speakers? Are they connected to the same network? What is the current firmware version of your Sony speakers? Also, what are the troubleshooting steps that you've done?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,
Muddi

Dear Muddi,

I confirm that I'm able to cast music from my phone to Sony speakers.

The sony speakers are connected to the same network.

SRS-X99 Firmware Version: 1.60.3351 - Chromecast Version: 1.36.145853

SRS-X88 Firmware Version: 1.60.3351 - Chromecast Version: 1.36.145853

SRS-X77 Firmware Version: 1.60.3351 - Chromecast Version: 1.36.145853

I tried to change router wifi but without success.

I tried deleting the groups and recreating them but it still doesn't work.

Thank you for the help.

Enrico

Hey EnricoS,

Thanks for the information. Currently, speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. You may notice that those devices don’t play audio in a speaker group. Third-party Cast devices like Sony with Chromecast built-in will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above. You may want to check with your speaker manufacturer if your Sony speakers are still capable of receiving updates.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Muddi
