Hi,

For last 3 days my home screen (Weather Frog) is covered with gray overlay rectangle.

Some of other guys report same problem from last two weeks with photo frame.

Any ideas whats wrong?

@Aleksander

You could try rebooting it from the Google Home app (Settings for the Nest Hub/Google Home, then the "More" icon (3 dots in the upper right corner), then "Reboot". If you can't do that, then unplug it for a minute and then plug it in again to reboot.

There is this issue as well, that's fixed with the latest firmware update:
https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Weather-data-on-2-Nest-Hub-fullscreen-c...

Hi,

I did not even mentioned rebooting cause it was obvious first thing to do.

And, Yes of course this Hub was restarted multiple times with no result.

And this case you mentioned is tottaly different. I this one you can see all the Weather Frog animation under this overlay (it is transparent in 10%?). Same if you choose picture frame or wallpaper. Also we are not missing any weather data.

It does not affect any of clock faces.

Firmware is: 7.20220419.2.166

Cast: 1.62.312297

Hey Lautika,

Sorry to hear that. Have you had the chance to send feedback? Also, could you tell us the latest firmware version of your device?

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Cheers,

Muddi

Do you still want customers to use the keywords, "GHT3 Screen Banding <Device Type> after the update." ?

Hi there
I have problem with my Hub! When displaying photos from Google Photos, a white rectangle appeared on the frame. At the same time, if you switch to the dashboard, the white rectangle is not displayed. Reboot doesn't help.IMG_4224.JPG

@Artsiom

There is a long thread (see below) on this defect, and Google Nest has acknowledged it to be an issue and is asking customers to submit feedback: "please send feedback using the keywords, 'GHT3 Screen Banding <Device Type> after the update.'"

Where should I write feedback 'GHT3 Screen Banding <Device Type> after the update.?

@Artsiom

In the feedback summary field when you enter feedback.

This page (below) has info on leaving feedback.  I think Google Nest does this so there's a formal record of what customers are reporting, and they don't seem to use this forum for that.

GHT3 SCREEN BANDING <nest> after the update

Cast firmware: 1.62.312297

Hi, I have had my Nest hub Max for two years all right but recently my photos get hidden by a white rectangle in the display. I did set it up twice but no changes. Any hints?

Hi all,

Just got an update from our team. Please fill out the form and let me know once done. Thank you.

@jaguarik13, Here's how to check the firmware of your Nest Hub.

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your 'Cast firmware version'.
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If 'Fuchsia version' is also listed, this means that your device runs Fuchsia.

Best,

Nikki

Sorry, but it's embarrassing. You have known about the problem for a very long time, you ask everyone for firmware and update information and nothing solves it. The whole service and the device have functionality as if children would do it... It's sad that you can't solve the gray overlay problem. It seems to me that you probably don't want to dream.... I'm attaching my info from the Nest Hub, although I think it's unnecessary.

FUCHSIA VERSION 7.20220419.2.164

SOFTWARE VERSION 48.41.32.466204089

CAST FIRMWARE VERSION 1.62.312297

The same thing happens to me, the google nest is recently bought, I share information about my equipment:

VERSIÓN DEL SOFTWARE
48.41.32.466204089
