Google Hub Restricted Mode

PaulaH

When I ask my hub to play music on YouTube it keeps restricting it. I go into digital and well-being to turn off the restrictions but it then resets itself every time I turn the hub off at the mains.

is there a way to keep this setting permanent?

Hey PaulaH,

Thanks for reaching out — let's check this out.

You mentioned the settings reset itself when you turn off the Google Nest Hub, are you referring to unplugging the device from the power or totally resetting the device? Did you follow these steps?

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings > Digital wellbeing > Set up or Add device filter.

Best,

Alex

Hi Alex, yes I followed the steps but the settings don’t save so every time I turn the device back on it goes into restricted mode and have to follow the process again. Is there a permanent way to get it to stay off restricted mode?

thanks

Hey PaulaH,

To confirm, are you unplugging the device from the power source? Once you set a filter it should be permanent unless you reset the Nest Hub to its default settings. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Home app? Resetting your Nest Hub to its default setting might help too if you haven't tried.

Kind regards,

Alex
