Google Mini Speaker doesn't understand "what's the weather" or "what time is it"

donnadonnabobon

My Google Home Mini has answered my "what's the weather?" and "what time is it?" questions for years.  Today, both of my mini speakers decided they don't understand these questions.  They either reply "I don't understand" or "According to Wikipedia, time is ....".  A quick search on this forum showed several past instances of this issue, but no instructions on how to fix it.  Any suggestions?

Hey donnadonnabobon,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you — let's see what's going on.

Were there any changes or updates on your network or devices? Is it only happening with these commands? Make sure your devices are connected to the same network and within 15-20 feet of your router. Try rebooting your Google Home Mini and router to refresh the connection. Reinstalling your Google Assistant and Google Home app might help too.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

Thanks for checking - the issue went away as suddenly as it appeared!  No idea why - but I'm back to normal now.

Hi donnadonnabobon,

Happy to hear that your issue was resolved! It's possible that there are some delays due to network connection. If that happens again, I suggest that you try rebooting your devices including your router.

It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Cheers,

Muddi

Feel free to close the topic - BUT I can assure you it was not a connectivity issue.  I restarted/rebooted the router, the speakers and my phone.  Others have reported the same problem coming and going at random.  Might be related to location services?  I'm all set at least for now, though.
