Hi,
I have recently bought a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) and I must say I am less than impressed by it's performance so far. The device is sluggish, the UI is a pain to use...the list goes on. The most annoying issue I have faced is when viewing my Google Nest Cam (Indoor/Wired) it is playing sound, even when the hub is fully muted.
I even muted notifications/alarms however that did not help to stop the sound playing.
Is anyone able to help? Rebooting it did not work and the device is on the latest firmware.
Thanks

Hi Roflcoptorz,
This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? Is the sound playing on the Nest Hub 2nd Gen? How about your Google Home app? Does it do the same?
It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:
Let’s make sure the link between the two via Wi-Fi are refreshed and tell me how it goes.
Best,
Dan

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the response!
This does not happen in the Google Home app on my other devices no, it works perfectly well. This Nest Hub 2nd Gen is brand new and had the issue straight after setting it all up.
I have tried power cycling the camera and the speakers however I am curious to know how the sound still playing on a muted device can be caused by network problems?
After watching some real use reviews of the hub it seems the sluggishness is normal for these devices. I guess it has a lot of stuff packed into the unit for the price so I should not expect high end tablet performance.
Thanks

Hey Roflcoptorz,
Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. To confirm, is the Nest Hub (2nd gen) muted or the cameras? If it's the Nest Hub, do you still hear an audio when you play music? What is the current firmware version of your device? Also, it is best if you could share a video showing the issue, so we can have a better picture of what's happening to your device.
Cheers,
Muddi
