Google Nest Hub Max can't speak over it if not at home

When I'm away from home, can I speak over the hub? I have dogs at home and I would like to speak to them when I'm at work.

@Iris

If you have the camera on the Nest Hub Max turned on, you can select the Nest Hub Max in the Google Home app on your phone, select "View Nest Cam", and then click on the microphone at the bottom of the screen to talk.  You can try this at home to verify that it works.

I wasn't able to talk over the microphone when I was at work. Does the mic work when I'm not home?

My son has used the Google Home app on his phone to talk to me at home with me using the Nest Hub Max.

Strangely, I tried to talk on the Nest hub max while at work and it didn't happen.

Jake, I am unsure if the issue still exists. I had the issue on a Samsung Galaxy S10 but upgraded to an S22 and things work now. I believe it is an issue with the older S series phones and the app as that is the only thing that changed.

Hey BHandke,

I am glad to hear you are no longer running into the issue, and things are working from here. With that being the case, I am going to lock the thread at this time. If you have any questions from here, please feel free to create a new post.

Best regards,

Jake

If I open the Google Home app when the camera is turned on for the Google Nest Hub Max, and I select the Nest Hub Max in the Google Home app, and then select "View Nest Cam" in the Google Home app, the Nest Hub Max displays a message saying "Nest Cam being viewed" and I'm viewing through the camera on the Nest Hub Max.  If, still in the Google Home app, I click on the microphone at the bottom of the Google Home app's screen, the Nest Hub Max makes a sound and my voice is then broadcasting from my phone to the Nest Hub Max.

There seems to be an issue with this currently as when I click the microphone on my phone to talk with my wife at home, she only hears the beep but can't hear my voice over it.

Did this ever get resolved for anyone? I am currently having the same issue.

I was on the phone with Google for 7 hours running tests on both the Hub Max and Doorbell and they finally identified it was an app problem (which I told them from the start) and later determined it was a known issue with Samsung as least. I was on a Samsung S10. I recently upgraded to the S22 and the issue is gone so I believe it was the older Samsung and the app not working well together.
