Google Nest Hub stops streaming google nest cameras... needs to be unplugged to fix the issue

Have you fixed the issue where the Nest Hub will suddenly stop streaming Google Nest cameras (all connected to the same wifi network)?  The only fix is to unplug the Nest Hub to restart the device.  Though it is a simple fix, it is still  a fix nonetheless, and the problem is recurring.  I've had the device less than a week.  This is not acceptable.  The device does not live up to the functionality you advertise.  We are end consumers, not beta testers.   I have the nest hub set up so that caregivers can keep an eye on my elderly mother anywhere in her apartment.  Many of these aides lack the technical know-how to remedy the situation themselves and when the cameras go down, it makes it harder for them to do their work.  Google needs to fix this nonsense ASAP to stabilize the connection.

Yet another very disappointing GLITCHY product from you guys.  You need to fix this with an update finally.

Hi @mrksptrs,

Thanks for posting in the community.

That's an annoying issue! It seems like the Google Nest Hub occasionally gets stuck and stops streaming your Nest cameras. It is definitely disgusting, even more when you need to keep an eye on your elderly mother anywhere in her apartment, so here are some steps you can try to fix and avoid having to unplug the hub every time:

Restart the Hub: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches. Unplug the power cord from the hub for at least one minute, then plug it back in and wait for it to reboot completely.

Check for software updates:

  • Hub Update: On the Hub itself, navigate to the settings menu (usually by swiping down from the top of the screen) and look for a section on "System" or "Update." Install any available software updates for your Hub.
  • Camera Update: Open the Google Home app and select your Nest camera(s). Check for and install any available software updates for the cameras themselves.

Improve Network Connection:

  • Ensure Strong Wi-Fi Signal: Make sure your Hub and Nest cameras are within good range of your Wi-Fi router and have strong signal strength. Consider using a Wi-Fi signal extender if needed.
  • Restart Router: Sometimes restarting your Wi-Fi router can clear up network congestion and improve overall performance.

Unlink and Relink Cameras (Optional):

  • In the Google Home app, unlink your Nest cameras from the Hub. Then, relink them following the on-screen instructions. This can sometimes refresh the connection between the devices.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you for your effort. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to reply to this post.

All the best,

Jorge.
