Up until the last couple of days I could instruct my mini nest to “sleep in 20 minutes” and 20 minutes later is would stop. But now it although it acknowledges the command, it keeps on playing after the time period. I have tried saying “stop in 20 minutes” as well as specifying an actual time, but all to no avail. I have two speakers, and they both are doing the same.
Does anyone know what has changed?

We have been made aware of reported issues with the Sleep Timer. We’re looking into possible solutions. For the meantime, we would like you to send a feedback about this issue with the steps provided below.
1. Turn on device usage data and crash reports:
2. Reproduce the issue (Try setting a sleep timer). After the issue occurred, send feedback from the speaker device via voice command (OK Google, send feedback) then say the keywords "GHT3 sleep timer not working".

I have a google home mini and it has already been factory reset. Everyone in this thread has already done everything we have been asked to do and you still refuse to pay attention to this issue so everyone has found work arounds. STILL we maintain that there is lying going on by the support people that say it no long is supposed to stop playing. It's a lie because the product still says it's supposed to stop automatically. STOP suggesting stupid things that we have ALL already done. We have done everything you have asked. Now you need to fix it. You even see it play for an hour and immediately it starts over. You see the progress bar start all over. SOMEONE there put the repeat in that routine and didn't realize it.

I have done everything you guys have suggested and it's worse. Even the work arounds all stopped working. So since all of us have been totally lied to and disrespected, I just posted our issues to @madebygoogle on Twitter. Maybe they will fix you guys and this lame "support" that is totally a joke and embarrassment to Google. Next is a complaint to the Better Business Bureau where Google is headquartered.

I am having the same problem on all of my speakers. I have tried resetting one; it made no difference. For years I have relied on being able to play radio/music and then set a sleep timer (tell it to stop playing in a certain amount of time, or at a certain time). A few weeks ago, I completely stopped being able to do that on any of the speakers I have installed. I will try reinstalling on a different account, but that doesn't really solve the problem (as someone else pointed out), since I have all my relevant information on the account they're currently installed with (so if I install on a new account, for example, I won't be able to ask what's on my calendar). Is there any possibility of Google fixing whatever has caused this problem to suddenly arise, after years of consistent use of this feature?

We've heard feedback that turning off sleep sounds after one hour is insufficient for some of our users, so we made the decision to remove the end time. We're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution and we appreciate your patience.

Why would you remove the function without a replacement in place first? How does that possibly solve anything? It's Christmas season, NOW is when Google nest devices are selling, and all you're seeing when people ask about Google Nest on Social Media right now is negativity about this issue. PUT IT BACK! Then solve the problem.

I'm sorry but that just feels like a lie. Why on earth would you change something that means sounds, any sounds play infinitely. What level of feedback did you get that meant you thought it would be a good idea vs having the feature where the user can specify how long they want a sound to play for?
In addition why does the routines set-up still say sounds will stop playing automatically and why does this work on a phone but not a nest speaker/display?

I'm sorry Dan, but your answer is unacceptable. On the Google store, you are still advertising that new Nest Hubs have a sleep timer. This is not the case. We are not fools, please don't try to brush us off with an unconvincing explanation.

Thats unfair, I've spent more than 260 euros for my Google speakers now I cant enjoy their functionality in full. Probably went wrong way preferring Google platform not Amazon.

I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense. It would not be good practice to remove a function BEFORE having the enhancement available. To add to that turning off the unit (not sleep sounds but streaming audio) in a specified future point was available and not limited to one hour. It was my practice to say "turn off at one thirty" often two hours or more away. Please try harder and DON'T give us answers that are stupid.

We're having this problem too. For years I was able to say "Play X from YouTube" and then "Turn off in one hour" and it would play that music and then turn off in one hour. It even says that speaker will turn off in one hour. But now it doesn't - it just keeps playing, and as it's from YouTube it just goes infinitely until you tell it to turn off.

I will also add the same issue. I have tried asking for turning off by duration, e.g. 40 minutes, or by time e.g. 10 p.m. All was working fine until the last 2 weeks.

I am having the same problem in the last couple of weeks. I used to be able to tell Google to play music conducive to falling asleep for one hour or 90 minutes. Even after confirming that it will stop playing after the stated time. It doesn't, it just plays continually and if I wake up and hear it, it's then counterproductive to sleep. What is the answer? I have 6 speakers and all are not working.

I ran into the same issue. I found a work around by creating a custom routine in the app by adding a "Delay start" timer followed by an action to "stop" at the end of the routine.

This seems to be affecting a lot of people. Something appears to have broken in an update. It can't be too tricky for a company with the resources of Google to identify and correct?

It happened to me with the release of Android 13 was released in August. I even beta tested Android 13 and it was working fine all through the summer. I know I have started giving Kudos to every post. Maybe that will give them a clue.

The home Mini will not turn of,we go to bed with mini going and ask google to turn of in 1 Hour ,google says she will turn off but it dosen't work,google has turned off always for the last 2 years or more,this only started last week,later in the night we wake up and it is still going and then we have to tell google to turn off,which works,we usually play it 2 or 3 times in the night when we can't sleep ,hope you can understand,I have turned it off completely and re started,didn't make any difference

I'm having the same issue with 3 nest device all set up on different WiFi networks, with different accounts and connecting to different phones.
This is clearly a problems at the server end.

My sleep timer (to shutdown music or background sounds) suddenly stopped working. It just keeps playing.
I have restarted my device a couple of time and also reset it to factory settings, and the problem is not yet resolved.

I'm having the same issue with the Nest Audio speaker. It started right after the lastest firmware update. The firmware update fixed the something went wrong error when telling Google to turn on or off a device but broke the sleep timer. Interestingly, when I look at the my activity feed for when the timer is scheduled it says I don't understand but can't be heard thru the speaker. It's as if it doesn't understand it's own command to turn off the speaker.

Exact same problem. Factory reset for a few time and the sleep timer still does not work. This sleep timer function is the most important function of the device for me.

Agreed, the sleep timer is very important for me. I dont want radio going all night!
I have discussed with others that use this feature and all agree.

Same as for everyone else. It doesn't matter what I do, the problem still remains. I seem to have gotten this problem at the same time as Spotify sporadically jumps into pause mode (once or twice an hour). May be related, may not be related. I have a workaround at least, play music on Spotify as it will stop playing sooner or later...

Please just roll the firmware back to the prior version until you can provide a fix for this problem. By delaying this long you're damaging Christmas sales of Google Nest and Google Home Mini devices. Whatever other error you were trying to fix with this new firmware was not causing this much of a public relations problem as this sleep timer issue is causing. Your device is now causing thousands of your customers to have a bad night sleep - that is bad PR you can easily avoid by simply rolling back the firmware to the prior version.
