Ive had 7 Google home minis and I am very happy with them. One of them has had an issue where out of nowhere it would keep saying "the microphone is now off" and a few minutes later it would say "the microphone is now on". I've had to replace that with a new one because it could not be fixed. Now, I have one more that has that very same issue!
I know that support will not be able to help with this either, because it is outside of warranty but I wanted to share it in here and hear fellow users out about it. It seems that this is a pretty common issue but I had not expected to have to replace these as soon as the warranty ran out.

Thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about the switch going bad right out of the warranty period. 😣
You can try a full factory reset and then using some canned air to see if there is debris in the switch area.

Factory reset does not help. I now have 2 speakers that can't listen to commands. Its just disconcerting that this has happened twice now. I was hoping for a longer lifetime for these

Definitely agree!

BTW it is not a defective switch. I've never used the mute switches. It's just software or the actual microphone not working and the Google home telling me in intervals that it is on then off

@Jake and @Muddi Google support won't support because both devices are out of warranty. I don't feel confident that any of you can help. I just wanted to share my dissapointmemt in the quality of Google home mini
At the moment I am seriously considering switching over to Alexa as even the units that do work, don't work as well as they used to
