Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: is this the first time you're setting up your Google Home Mini? What's the message you're getting when connecting your speaker to your network? Also, your device needs to be set up first before you can use its Bluetooth feature.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure your devices are connected to the same network and within 15-20 feet of your router.
  2. If you're using an iOS, turn on Local network access for the Google Home app on your phone settings. Here's how: Privacy > Local Network > Google Home app
  3. Reinstall your Google Home app.
  4. Reset your Google Home Mini.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

Checking back in to see if the troubleshooting steps shared help. Let us know by updating this thread, and the Community will be happy to lend a hand.

It will not connect to wifi or Bluetooth on any device I've tried. I have a Google pixel 6 phone, and have tried a Samsung phone as well. I have used these speakers previously in a different location with different wifi.

How do you reset them?

Hey Jessiehaugen,

If you're still setting up your Home Mini, you can't use its Bluetooth feature yet. Are you getting any message when you connect it to your network? Also, could you try setting it up using a different network or mobile hotspot to isolate the issue.

Thanks,

Alex

How do I connect to wifi to set it up if I can't connect it to Bluetooth yet?

Hi Jessiehaugen,

Chiming in, after you reset your device - did it ask you to download the Google Home app? Also, are you able to see the temporary network of the speaker on your network list?

Follow these steps below to know how:

  1. Make sure that you're done resetting your speakers. Check this link for the steps.
  2. Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device.
  3. Open the list of available WiFi networks and look for an available network with the name “GoogleHomeXXXX" (where XXXX is a random number).
    1. Note: If you previously set up your device and have not factory reset it since it got kicked off of the network, look for the name of the device that you assigned to it in the list of available networks on your mobile device (Example: “Kitchen Home").
  4. If you can successfully connect to the speaker or display's SSID in your WiFi settings, open the Google Home app and try to set up the device.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi there,

Due to inactivity, I'll go ahead and lock this thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread if you need assistance with your Google speakers and we'd be glad to assist you further.

Best,

Princess

I cannot get any of the steps to work. When I connect to them with WiFi, and then go into the app to set them up, it tells me "Google home mini found. It needs to be activated before set up."

"this device has a few extra steps before you can start set up. Go to the help center to learn more"  then there is nothing in the help but to try using a different device to connect them to wifi (which I've already tried)
