Google needs multiple commands to play personal playlists, what is the best way to fix this?

I have been running into an issue, where Google home is used nightly to play one specific playlist with a unique name, but instead of playing that playlist it will choose words out of the playlist name and then attempt to play songs by various artists with similar names. This happens inconsistently but also consistently... We have been playing this playlist for over 8 months, on a nightly basis to help the kids sleep. However, when I use the simple command Google home will play an incorrect playlist, album, or song until I ask it to stop and then repeat the exact same command and the exact same enunciation. Sometimes it takes two tries/repeats.

Is there anything I need to do as far as updates to fix this, it's getting quite frustrating, and is the reason you switched from Alexa to Google home. But now Google is presenting with the same problem.

Hi @Tucklebum .

Don't think there is an easy solution to this, but there may a workaround if it is one particular playlist you normally play and that is to create a simple routine to action the playing of that particular playlist and give that routine a simple one word action command.

I'll try to explain.

1. Using the Google home app go into the 'automations' menu and add a routine.

2. Choose the Personal type.

3. Call the routine any name you like, it doesn't matter.

4. Click on 'When I say to Google Assistant' and choose a short phrase.

5. Click on Add action.

6. Click on 'Try adding your own' type and add the action of 'Play COMPLICATED PLAYLIST NAME playlist', e.g. the name of your particular playlist.

7. Save the routine.

Now when you say the short phrase you have added it should then action the playlist.

I use a routine to often play a particular playlist of mine of a night time with a simple starter phrase of just 'Relax', e.g. I just say 'Hey google relax' and it plays my particular playlist.

Just make sure the starter phrase you choose cannot be mixed up with anything else.

That sounds great, I appreciate the walkthrough and workaround, and I'll try it later today! Hopefully this'll help!
