Google nest hub and speakers not responding first time

My nest hub max, nest hub and google minis have stopped responding first time.  If I try hey Google again a couple of minutes later they respond. It is like they need to be woken up.

This started to happen almost a week ago and I have reset them a few times and it just keeps happening.

We have a strong wifi network using google wifi so I am running out of ideas on how to solve this.

it’s getting to be pretty frustrating, has anyone else had the same issue and do you have any ideas how to resolve it?

Hi David thanks for your help.

I have tried those steps and no luck making it work.

Have you tried powering off your devices and back on again in turn?

  1. Turn off your modem or modem/router combo, Wifi points, and speakers.
  2. Turn on your modem or modem/router combo and wait for it to be fully online.
  3. Turn on your primary Wifi point, followed by your other Wifi points and wait for them to be fully online.
  4. Turn your speakers back on and see if the issue persists.

Tried all this and have the same problem. I saw an old topic with a lot of people also suddenly have this problem. It seems like it happened after an update.

Does it happen immediately after you reset? Or does it work fine for a short while then reoccur?

It happens the first time on a new day, only then. So very hard to test also...

As you mentioned you're using Google Wifi, I wonder if it could be a DNS issue. You can try changing it:

Change your DNS server - Google Nest Help

Try using 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (Cloudflare) instead of the ones provided by your internet service provider.
