I have set both hubs to:
Low light activation - dark
During low light - turn off screen
Minimum brightness - Dark
Night mode is between 9:30pm and 7:30 am
Do not disturb is turned on
The screen goes dark when I turn off the light, there is no clock showing. The frame is set with the retro dark clock (black with white writing).
I wake up at 3-5am and the screen is glowing. Not brightly and the clock has black writing instead.
I have to either fiddle with the options or reboot to get it to go black again.
Can someone tell me why this is happening? I was going to buy another nest max hub because I thought it was because my 1st generation nest hub was getting buggy, but swapping them around hasn't made a difference.
Last night I tried turning off sleep mode and dnd and told the display to manually turn off. Woke up and it was on again.
So annoying

Hey Candacca,
Thanks for reaching out.
Google Nest displays have Ambient EQ, a new visual experience that dynamically adjusts the color temperature and brightness of your display to create a non-intrusive smart display experience. When you use the sensor on the top of the device, Ambient EQ adapts the display brightness and color temperature to match the surrounding environment, so that your display resembles a physical photo.
Ambient EQ is automatically enabled when you set up your Nest display. You can choose to have Ambient EQ adjust the screen color to match your environment Always, during Ambient only, or Never as shown below. If you’d like to offset the brightness, you can do so in the Display settings on your Home app. To disable Ambient EQ, utilize the Quick settings tray on the device when you swipe your finger up from the bottom of the display, and tap the sun icon..
Best,
Princess

Hi Princess
I tried turning off Ambient EQ and it still turned on at 3:30am. Even if I set it to turn off after 5mins, it still turns the lights back on at 3:30am.
I tried resetting the whole thing, but nothing makes it work like it used to.
Thanks
Candace
