Google nest mini less responsive

Not only does our Google nest not turn off after a determined number of minutes as it used to but now is really slow to respond or keeps saying " something went wrong" or "there was a glitch, try again in a few seconds". It's infuriating! We used to love our nest, now thinking of getting Alexa. Is this all the result of that system upgrade a few weeks ago?

On the night of Jan 10th all issues appear to be resolved. Google nest now switches off after a determined number of minutes and seems more responsive to my commands. Thank you to whoever managed to resolve these issues!!

Sadly the resolution only lasted two days and we are now back to Google nest NOT recognising the request to switch off after a set number of minutes! This is so disappointing. What is going on?

My Google nest mini got bricked the next day the system update was rolled out on 13th Dec 22. Google refused to replace my device saying it is out of warranty. Funny thing is this is a replacement and both the original and replacement only last about a year. What a joke...

Hi everyone,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

We're sorry to hear that you have to experience this with your Google Nest Mini. Since you've mentioned that this is a replacement device, I assumed that you already tried some steps before reaching out. With that being said, could you tell us the cast firmware version of your Google Nest Mini?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX"

Looking forward to your response.
