Google nest mini requires to be set up daily

My 3 year old google nest mini suddenly started disconnecting (it would say it wasn’t connected to wifi). I have to set it up daily! Google home is updated. It is next to my wifi. I tried resetting it multiple times, swithced it off and on and also the wifi multiple times. It did not solve the issue. My google home app is in the most update version. Please advise.

Hi Syaoran,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with your Google Nest Mini device. Let’s further look into it. A few questions: do you have other Google Nest speakers in your home? If yes, do they also experience similar issues? Are you using a dual-band router? Which band is your Google Nest Mini connected to and what is its distance from the router?

Regards,
Alex

No google nest at home. I am not sure if it’s a dual band router. Probably not. The wifi is beside it so around 1 meter. I don’t think it’s the wifi. It has been functioning well on the first 2 years. Then i went for my holidays, came back, reconnected and the problem started from there. No change with phone either.

Do you have WiFi 5 or older? or Wifi 6 or newer?

Hello Syaoran,

Do you have access to your router settings? If not, try asking your router manufacturer to configure some of its settings:

  • Change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  • If IPv6 is enabled, disable it in the meantime.
  • Reboot your router for 2 minutes.
  • Reboot Google Nest Mini for a minute and then monitor.

If the issue persists, kindly provide the Cast firmware version of your Google Nest Mini device.

Best,
Alex

Got no idea.

Do you know the brand and model of whatever WiFi router the unit is trying to connect to?
