How can I stop google from confirming what I asked it to do?

Like if I ask, Google turn of basement. I dont want him to always be, sure turning 4 lights off. Just do it and maybe a quick tone like Alexa does.
Any option for that?

In the home app, be sure to set the device type of those lights to a light. If you're using smart plugs as an example, you can tap and hold on the plug > settings cog > device type > change it to light. It shouldn't play the confirmation after you change it.

Hi!
All 4 lights are showing as light yet it still tells me is shutting down 4 lights when I power them off, for example

Are the all in the same room in the app, or are they in different rooms? I'm curious, are you physically in the room when you ask it do turn them on/off?

Yes they are all in the same room "Basement"

What manufacturer made the lights? Is it the same for all of them? What app did you set them up in?

I'm using lights by Govee setup in the Govee app, and TECKIN Wi-Fi smart plugs setup in the Smart Life app.

they are setup using Hubspace. Bought them from Home Depot.

Nothing jumps out as to why you're seeing this, other than we're using different lights. Do you see any interesting options in the Hubspace app?

Hi everyone,

We appreciate the help, @David_K.

@shaolin95, I'm jumping in to ensure everything is good here. In addition to what davidking mentioned above, if you use the Google Home speaker that is assigned in the same room as the light bulbs in the Google Home app, it will only give you a chime sound confirming that the action is done. Just to clarify, is the Google Home speaker you are using also in the “Basement” room?

Sincerely,
Alex

OK so I see what's different. I am telling Google watch to turn off basement (which has 4 lights in it) because the watch can do routines.

Cannot do routines I meant

The behavior is the same if I tell my Google speaker to turn off basement. Also it is a smasung watch 5 pro.

I mean, why just not have the option like Alexa to just do a simple sound as confirmation?

Hi there,

Assign your Google Nest speaker in the same room as the basement lights. Giving commands to the speaker in the same room should give you a chime sound when controlling the light bulbs.

Also, I understand that it would be a better feature for the Google Nest devices  if this would be available. It’s good to know that there are suggestions coming from the users of our devices and we appreciate that. It would be extremely helpful for us if you can provide us your feedback on what are the things we should improve for better user experience.

Kind regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Your steps work but sadly that means I will need to add another Google speaker to the Basement theater room when  I much rather use my Samsung Watch 5 Pro to issue the commands.
Guess I will need to live to learn with that annoying feedback until hopefully one day we get an option to disable it.
Thanks

Hey shaolin95,

I understand what you mean. The team is really working to bring more features on Google Home. Who knows, this may be added soon.

I just also wanted to clarify that what I meant is to move your Google Home speaker to the same room as your light bulbs in the Google Home app, not the actual location in your home.

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap  your speaker.
  • Tap Settings > Device information > Placement. Move it to the same room your light bulbs are assigned > Save.

Kind regards,
Alex

Hello,
Yes I get that but then that means I need to remember to issue the command before I get to the basement and after I leave the basement when I get to the room where the speaker is or the lights will remain on.
Shouldnt be too hard to just add an option to NOT give us that feedback. If Alexa, with all its limitations can do ti, Google should be able to do it to. 😉

Hi shaolin95,

I am also a Google Home user myself, and I do understand what you mean. Rest assured that we'll take this as feedback to improve our Google Home device’s features. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else on Google Home, aside from this.

Sincerely,
Alex
