I got the Google Nest Hub Max so I could follow recipes without lugging my laptop into the kitchen. But, the webpage times out after a few minutes and then is gone. It takes longer than a few minutes to execute most recipes and I don't want to touch the screen with dirty hands while I'm cooking. How can I keep a recipe open? This is pretty frustrating because it makes the device pretty much useless for me. It seems like it shouldn't be this hard.

here is support article on cooking with google
https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7309433?hl=en
If I select the recipe from the display or from "my cookbook" it usually stays on for a very long time and I usually have to tell it to go home before it shows the regular screen again
and if all else fails there is this little tip in the article
Return to recipe Tip: Use these commands to reinitiate the recipe flow. For example, lasagna takes 30 minutes to bake. When the timer goes off, say these commands to restart the recipe instructions. | "Next step" "Repeat step" |
