@Ferro

Do you have "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) enabled for your Google Nest doorbell? If you do, you should get an announcement on your Nest Hub whenever the doorbell button is pressed, as long as both the doorbell and the Nest Hub are in the same Google Nest "home/structure" on the same Wi-Fi network and the Nest Hub is NOT set to "Do Not Disturb".

Are you by any chance using "Home/Away Assist"? We don't use that feature, but perhaps something about that feature is causing the behavior you're observing.
