Issues casting to Nest mini across VLANs

nithinrajavelu

I am setting up my home automation server using Home Assistant, and have a separate VLAN for all my IoT devices and a separate untagged VLAN for my devices such as PC and phones.

I've added my two Nest Minis to my IoT VLAN, and I am having issues casting to these devices from my PC & phones which are on my main untagged VLAN.

I've got firewall rules set up that (i) allow only established and related internet & lan traffic on the IoT VLAN, (ii) deny all lan traffic across the IoT VLAN. I've however set up an allow rule for LAN traffic from my chromecast devices (IP tagged for the two Nest Minis) on the IoT VLAN on the following ports (1900, 5353, 5556, 5558, 8008, 8009, 32400) to my main untagged VLAN, and have also turned on mDNS on my IoT and untagged VLANs. I've also turned off IGMP snooping on my IoT network btw as I'm aware that affects casting/streaming a fair bit.

Having done all that I'm unable to see these Chromecast devices on my phones and laptop. I don't know if there's additional ports I need to expose for the Chromecast devices in addition to the above. I've seen online using similar set-ups so am a bit confused on where I'm going wrong here. Any help appreciated!

I am using a Unifi set-up for my home network btw.
