Mini Gen 1 Activates But Home App Keeps Saying It Needs To Be Activated

Activated brand new Mini Gen 1 using the Device Utility app successfully, Google Home continues to say that it needs to be activated. Total failure on Google to have this all work so poorly together. Plus had to go searching for the Device Utility app since Google Play no longer has it, grrr...

I'm having the same issue with a Gen 1 mini my brother no longer used! I can't for the life of me find out how to bypass the utility app since it's no longer supported. How did you get around that?

Google search for Device Utility APK, download and install it to your phone or tablet. You may get warnings asking if you want to download and install since it's not a Play Store app anymore but it's safe.

Figured out my problem finally, even though the app downloaded and installed fine on my Pixel 8 it still wouldn't activate. Downloaded and installed on my Samsung tablet, and was able to activate the Gen 1 Mini and add it to my home setup.
