My minis don't know the time

Hi all,

For a couple of weeks at least, my Google Home, Home Mini, and Lenovo Clock with Google assistant don't understand the question, "what time is it?". They reply, "Sorry, I don't understand". But, they do respond correctly to the question, "What time zone am I in?" by replying with the name of the city I'm in and the correct time zone for it. It also can give the weather without having to specify my location. So my devices do know where they are. They do reply with the correct time in my city, but only if I remember to include the name of my city in my time request.

Any advice on this? Thank you.

I have been having the same issue!  I thought it would just fix itself, but it has not. I've tried a reboot, and even a factory reboot. Still not working.

Sorry to hear about what's happening with your speakers. Could someone confirm if this happens only when asking time? How about when asking other commands like playing music and asking the weather? 

 

Kindly provide the cast firmware version of your speakers so we can check further.

 

To check the firmware version:

  1. Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the Google Nest or Home device.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap the device card of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top-right, tap Settings Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under Technical information, find Cast firmware:X.XXX.XXXXX.

I'm not he OP here, but I'm having the same issue. 

Time and weather return "I don't understand" 
It does return my current location correctly. 

My firmware is:

System firmware version: 282045

Cast Firmware: 1.56.282045

Have you already tried performing a complete reset to see if that will make any changes?

Yes, I even tried a factory reset and then added the device back into my home app.  Still doesn't understand the time, or the weather. 

Works great for other routines, and my kitchen timer still.

Can you provide the exact command that you are trying? Also, did you check if the device address is the location that you are in right now?

Hello,

Originally tried it on Chrome yesterday. Just tried it on Chrome, as well as Edge, today and still same error.

My google mini suddenly stopped returning the current time or the weather. When asked it only responds with "Sorry, I didn't understand."  This has been going on for a month or two. I figured it would sort itself out and no it has not. I've tried to reboot it.  Nothing.  Even a factory reset, and still nothing. 

When asked where we are it correctly returns my address. 

Is this an attempt at planned obsolesce?  I just want it to work. The time and the weather are two of the things I use my mini for the most!!
