Nest Hub (2nd gen) stuck on white screen

I recently purchased a brand new Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen), but I'm encountering a problem: the screen only displays white. I've tried every possible solution, including a factory reset and various configuration methods during startup. Although all the setup processes complete successfully, the screen stays white and the assistant feature doesn't work. Interestingly, I can still adjust the volume and turn the microphone on and off. This purchase was to replace my 1st Gen model, which also experienced a white screen issue after a software update.

Hi SC6,

Oh no! Let’s further look into it. A few questions: are you using a dual-band router? On which band did you connect your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen? Have you tried to connect it to the other band?

Let’s try these steps:

  • Try to connect Google Nest Hub 2nd gen to a temporary hotspot. In order to complete the setup for your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen with the use of a mobile hotspot, you need to have two setup devices.
    • The first phone will behave as the router. Turn on its data and hotspot.
    • The second device is the setup device. Connect it to the hotspot connection.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Hub 2nd gen once more.
  • Using the second setup device, open the Google Home app > Follow the set-up instructions > Choose the hotspot network on the “Connect to WiFi” page.

If Google Nest Hub 2nd gen connects to the hotspot, proceed to the next steps:

  • While the second phone is connected to the hotspot, open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap on Google Nest Hub 2nd gen > Settings > Device information > Wi-Fi > Forget Wi-Fi.
  • Connect the setup device back to your home WiFi > Do the setup steps again and try connecting the Google Nest Hub 2nd gen to your Wi-Fi.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

Thanks, it worked when I used another mobile as a hotspot, and it also fixed my problem with another kind of hub. So it seems like the problem is with my router.

Hi there,

I’m glad that we were able to sort it out. You can check this link to configure your router settings under Step 4 for Advanced Troubleshooting. If it still doesn’t work, change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. If iPV6 is enabled, turn it off in the meantime. Reboot your router, and then try to do the set-up steps again.

Best,
Alex
