I have been using Sirius XM with my nest hub for years. All of a sudden it stopped working.
You can request to play something from Sirius XM, and the Hub obliges... "Streaming XXXX on Sirius XM..."
The screen then shows that the hub switches to Sirius XM but just before the player launches you can see (VERY briefly)an alert that reads:
"config-failed :0. Could not retrieve receiver configuration, please try again in a few minutes"
I have tried re-linking my Sirius account, unplugging the hub and even the entire wifi network. Nothing seems to fix it.
The hub functions properly on all other fronts (Spotify works etc)
Anyone have any advice here?
thanks

Hi everyone,
Thanks for reporting this to the community. The team is aware and is currently investigating this issue. To help the team further look into this, kindly turn on device usage data and crash reports. Reproduce the issue by asking your Google Nest speaker/display to play a station on SiriusXM, then give it a voice command to send feedback using the keywords “GHT3 Sirius XM stop streaming."
Please keep an eye on this thread for further updates. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience.
Warmly,
Alex

Having the same problem trying to use Sirius XM, either it doesn't play at all, or plays for a minute or two, then stops. Did do the send feedback thing, Hopefully it works.

I am experiencing the same thing. 30sec - 15mins and then my Google Hub shows the sirius xm logo as if it's loading then goes back to my clock.

I sent the crash report - what is being done about this WIDESPREAD issue that causes your customers to truly doubt your capabilities and Google devices?? Are you communicating directly with SiriusXM's UX team and other departments able to check the streaming connection? Which dept(s) at Google are involved and are they comparing what WORKS with other stations with what is different via SiriusXM? This really shouldn't be that difficult to identify and resolve since you are GOOGLE!

This is still an issue as of 1/5/24. Ask hub to play a channel (ex Classic Rewind) and it starts, and plays for a few minutes, then stops.
I can start it in my phone and cast to the hub, then the hub figures it out and plays indefinitely.

Same here, but we shouldn't have to go thru the phone app to listen to XM radio. This service used to work flawlessly, It's time the techs on both ends figured it out.

"Hey Google" (assistant is now waiting) - It is time for Google to contact Sirius XM. This could likely be a problem with how DRM works. Since stations like CNN are available on services like "tune in" and on some FM channels it is unlikely that channel uses DRM, unlike the music channels so many have mentioned in this thread - 60's, 70's, classic rock and others. If Sirius when sending the signal to the Google device suspects that device could be recording or not adhering to whatever they require for DRM, likely they would stop the signal. Considering the reaction I see on my Google Nest Speaker, which leaves the device in an indeterminate state, like Google still thinks streaming is happening, makes the most sense logically.
This isn't a bug in Google's hardware, this is Sirius that has done something. So when will Google take this to Sirius? I've mentioned this problem to Sirius and all I get from them is "these devices are supported, if it doesn't work talk to them", which is very unhelpful too.
Device owners are left in the middle. Please get this fixed.

Still an issue today. This is extremely frustrating.

I am having the same issue on the Google Nest points. We’ve used Sirius for years and it now will not play or cast.
01-24-2024 11:45 AM
Jan 24, 2024-same issue here. Sirius XM only. They said everything looks good on their end. Is there a fix?

Nest speaker Not working. Unlinking and relinking doesn't help. BTW my Google mini that isn't a Nest speaker streams Sirius XM just fine.
01-27-2024 09:09 AM
Same. All my Google minis or hub display work. Nest wifi points will not play and it is the one I use the most in my house.

This does nothing, my nest device says it doesn't understand despite multiple tries. Please provide a solution.

Hi All, so I think what’s happening is there’s a new app in App Store (iOS) for SiriusXM which is a new app, not an update. I deleted the old app and installed the new app, made sure Local Devices was scanned and it fixes not being able to cast /stream from the app to a Google speaker.
01-30-2024 10:44 AM
Went through that procedure on my iPad. No change. Same with the “unplug speaker for 10 seconds” remedy. SiriusXM appears to be streaming, but nothing comes out of the speaker. My problem is not so much that the speaker does not respond to the app, but that it will not respond to a voice command.

Here's an interesting point in figuring out why my speakers are not completing connections to commands to stream SiriusXM channels. (My speakers are responding to other streams, such as TuneIn.) I have eight speakers (three Insignia, three JBL, one Lenovo and one Home Mini). The only one that is successfully processing voice commands to play SiriusXM channels is the Home Mini, albeit with some delay. What could account for that? "GHT3 Sirius XM stop streaming."

New SiriusXM update a couple of days ago. Speakers still not playing. Every other source seems to have no problem with streaming except for SiriusXM. Someone needs to fix this.
01-31-2024 06:46 PM
I can ask Google to play a channel number on SiriusXM and it will actually tell me the name of the channel - then nothing. For example, "hey Google play channel xx on SiriusXM" "Playing The Blend on SiriusXM" then SILENCE
What's up with that????
02-05-2024 06:13 PM
Mine is not working either, hasn't for over a month. Not sure what to do. Have unlinked and relinked, Deleted and recreated. Please help! It is when trying to play Sirius XM, Google says, now streaming Siriux XM, but then silence.

Any update on this? Been unable to stream or cast SiriusXM radio to Nest hubs since mid-December 2023, no issue casting from SiriusXM app to Chromecast devices.
02-12-2024 09:09 AM
Still waiting on another firmware update, hoping that will fix things.
12-14-2023 10:36 AM
I have 2 Google displays and 2 Google speakers and none of them will play SiriusXM. I ask to play a channel on SiriusXM. The system’s repeats it back to me as normal and the display shows like it will start to play and then it doesn’t. System just goes back to display as it is not doing anything.. a quick error appear saying cannot load configuration. I have linked and delinked account. I have powered down and unplugged everything including router with no luck. Any thoughts?

same issue. working yesterday. Now not working. a config fail error flashes. factory reset the device (google home max) no change. unlinked account, linked account - change. on this site to hopefully find a solution.
12-14-2023 11:51 AM
I have the same issue on 3 Nest devices. I checked all setting and my subscription with SiriusXM is linked. Google nest recognizes command and responds with agreeing to play not no sound on multiple devices.

SiriusXM released a totally rebuilt app today (and may have changed the streaming process). We will need a new firmware update for a fix (last was 12/6). I let Google know of the issue, and they were unaware. I am also letting SiriusXM know. You can say "Hey Google, leave feedback" to your device to also report the issue.
12-14-2023 12:28 PM
here is the news release today about the app: https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/siriusxm-new-app-launch/
My hubs stopped working when as soon as the new app was released.
12-14-2023 12:58 PM
The work around until Google pushes out a firmare update to correct the issue is to start the cast from another device and let the hub take over to stream.
From what I can tell from code posted on GitHub, the nest code cannot get the endpoint configuration. That would make sense since the new app on another device would establish that initial connection. But the nest hub cannot be updated by end users and we just need to wait for a firmware update.
Thanks to Dale on another thread mentioning he could get it to work by streaming from his phone first.
01-27-2024 07:42 AM
Although I haven’t been able to cast from my phone or iPad either since the sxm upgrade. Any news on firmware update??
12-14-2023 01:11 PM
Same issue here. Streaming was okay up until this morning around 9am eastern time then everything stopped. I say the same prompt to stream from whatever channel I want to listen to and Google Next acknowledges it, briefly shows it attempting to play in the app but then abruptly stops. Went through all the standard troubleshooting: reboot devices, reset configure, factory reset, unlink relink accounts, etc. nothing works. Tagging this thread to see when an update is available.
12-14-2023 04:51 PM
Same issue here, but the work around only works for a few minutes. Seems as though Google's service degradation is continuous. Very disappointing.
12-14-2023 05:50 PM
Same problem here on 4 Nest devices. Will not play numbered channels or Xtra channels.
12-15-2023 06:06 AM
Same problem. I also try power reset, unlink, link account.
12-28-2023 08:01 AM
I reported this problem about 3 weeks ago and it seemed to be resolved after a few days. Today I have the same problem occurring again.
02-12-2024 09:42 AM
That has been the problem. No known fix at this point, as far as I know.
12-15-2023 08:08 AM
Same issue for us also. I called SiriusXM no help said to call Google.
12-15-2023 09:55 AM
I have the same problem. I know siriusXM just changed their web player interface - maybe this issue is related.
12-15-2023 10:55 AM
does anyone have a status
12-15-2023 01:10 PM
Sirius just called me and wanted the model number of my nest and serial number. I provided the model number but refused to provide the serial number as that is unique to my device and they would have zero need for it. What is important is the firmware running, so even the model number would make zero difference. Ican run SXM on the hub, I just need to initiate the connection via my phone and then cast it so the hub has control. I see no new firmware listed (even a preview version) since Dec. 6th (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-production-firmware-vers...)
12-15-2023 01:21 PM
Just started working properly for me.
Tested using one of my Routines/Automations and requesting a channel by name/number directly. Guess they opened the door again. No firmware change that I can see. Hubs & Mini still showing the Preview firmware per the Dec 6 report.
12-15-2023 01:14 PM
The issue appears to be resolved and people's hubs are working now.
