Nest Hub not working to talk with Nest Doorbell

Buz87

Hello,

I recently made my Google setup and for my surprise, the Nest hub and the Nest Doorbell works not as fine as I believe it should.

Good things first: it rings when someone hits the doorbell and allow quick responses, which is very useful.

Bad things: The controls in Nest Hub are slow. Once the doorbell is push, takes around 5 to 10 secs to allow quick responses. And the worst for the end: it is impossible to talk through. When the mic is enabled, the video freezes and starts lagging. And affect the audio as well. So definitely there's a connectivity issue here which I believe is from Nest Hub because with my cellphone, the talk and video through the doorbell works just fine.

Any help on this? Is there a software fix coming?

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue. My apologies for the late response.

I know how challenging it is when you're having issues streaming your Nest doorbell to your Google Nest Hub. Let's get to the bottom of this.

A few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Which specific Nets Hub do you have (1st or 2nd gen)?
  • How far is your Nest Hub from the router?
  • What is the current operating and firmware version of your Nest Hub?

Let's try these steps below:

  1. Move your Nest Hub within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  2. Reboot your Nest Hub and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Hello,

Answering your questions:

  • Since always. I already had the Nest Hub before getting the Doorbell. Since the very first time, this issue happens.
  • 2nd Gen
  • It is relatively close. It does not show any problems streaming videos for example so I don't believe signal strength is an issue.
  • Here it says:
    • Software Version: 46.32.13.418036576
    • Chromecast Firmware Version: 1.56.290464

The hub is within this range and I rebooted both Hub and Router as requested. The issue continues.

Hey Buz87,

Thanks for that information. Please proceed with resetting your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) by pressing and holding both volume buttons together, at the back of the Nest Hub, for about 10 seconds. You'll hear your Google Assistant confirm that it's resetting the Nest Hub.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello @Muddi

I did and tried talking again with Nest Hub/Doorbell. Still same issue. The conversation is not fluid as should be. Lots of lags in image and also sound breaking.

I'm said to say that I'm disappointed with this integration. Otherwise, it should not be sold as compatible....

I followed a tip from a former post and switched the indoor chimes off and something else (in lieu of switching out the battery - which I don't even know if it has one since it's wired) and now the the camera and mic work.

HOWEVER, the option to leave a message prompt from the DB and the quick responses do not work now.

The router is not the problem
