Nest speaker in group not playing in group

dkunath1

When I play music via home app, not all speakers are playing.  It seems to only be the nest minis that don’t play and it is random. The speakers in the group are three nest minis and one Polk magnify mini.  I check cast versions and firmware and they are all the same.  Sometimes it works if I reboot the speaker, but sometimes it doesn’t.  I have rebooted the nest WiFi pro mesh and still have same problem.  Please advise

Hi dkunath1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. You can delete the speaker group and try to create a new one then observe if this will make a difference. If this did not fix it do a full reset on your speakers then set them up again a new device then create the speaker group again. Check the helpful link below on how to reset your Nest speakers.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Let me know how it goes.

Juni

Yes, I did a factory reset on all the minis and recreate the group, but still get inconsistent playing on all minis

Hey there,

I am sorry to hear you are still having trouble. Do you mind me asking if the device is just not playing all together? Are any of the devices playing choppy/stutter? Please let me know, as I want to ensure everything is good to go.

Best regards,

Jake

What happens is when I tell google to play music on “all speakers” which is the name of the group, it will start but it is random as to which speaker is working.  For example, if I give the command by the kitchen speaker, music may start on the dining room speaker or maybe the master bedroom speaker.  Sometimes if I go to the speakers not working and disconnect/reconnect them, it may start playing music.  As of yesterday, when I gave a command to the kitchen mini, the dining room answers and the kitchen mini will say something went wrong.  Is it possible that this could be hardware issues, because the software and firmware are the same on all

I forgot to answer your original question.  No, they are not choppy

Hi dkunath1,

We really appreciate you doing the provided steps however, to really narrow things down, it would help a lot if you could collect all your Nest Mini's and put them together near your router. It's also helpful to do a sequential reboot by unplugging the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest Mini's. Restarting your phone might also help.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan

Hey dkunath1,

Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. To further eliminate network issues, please try setting up 2-3 of your devices using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your speakers). Once done, create a group then check if you will have the same issue.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

With all due respect, I do not have two mobile phones to try your “experiment.”  This is now bordering on ridiculous.  I have  google WiFi pro and these are the only devices having issues.  I have 20 other devices that have no issue, so this looks more like an issue with minis themselves or the google home software.  I know this is not a wireless issue because I did an RF field analysis with my spectrum analyzer.  There needs to be better advise.
