Nest speakers all buzz/rattle at low volumes w/ clamming music, reported a couple years ago.

Nest crappy speakers buzz and rattle, they simply do NOT handle base at all. Spotify music play list "Jazz in the Background" or "Ambient Dreamscape" playing on 13 Nest speakers at 25%-35% all having the buzzing and rattling even with gentle base. It is maddening and Google fails to ever respond. Been told on the phone and on the forum for years they will look into it and get back to me. They NEVER do. Our friends are having the same issue. Our grandkids are using Sonos and Bose speakers and never have such issues and they listen to loud base heavy music with no problems. Google - FIX THE **bleep** ISSUES!!!!!!!!! Stop closing threads when you have not resolved the issues. UGH!!!!!!

Oh my gosh. We have the same problem in our home. The bass rumbling makes my hearing aids go nuts. Tested the same playlists on a friends Sonos speakers -- at twice the volume with no buzz, rattle or rumbling.

Hi ,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience that you are experiencing with your Google Home devices and phone. When turning on the Spotify app, it will answer loudly but turn on the music with low volumes". But no need to worry; help is here.

It seems you're unable to play music on your Google Home devices as you could do it before. Let's see some basic troubleshooting steps:

Potential Solutions:

  • Be More Specific: Try providing more specific requests:
  • "Ok Google, play rock music."
  • "Ok Google, play my favorite playlist."
  • "Ok Google, play music from Spotify."
  • Check Default Music Service: Ensure Spotify is set as your default music service in the Google Home app.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap on your home or group.
  • Tap "Media & Audio."
  • Under "Default music service," select "Spotify."
  • Device and App Updates: Ensure your phone, Google Home devices, and Spotify Music app are running the latest software versions. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
  • Restart Devices: Restart your Google Home devices and your phone to refresh the connection.
  • Google Assistant Settings: Check if there are any specific settings related to music playback in the Google Assistant settings. You might need to adjust preferences or permissions.
  • Clear Cache and Data: As a last resort, try clearing the cache and data for the Google Home app. This might resolve software-related issues.

You can also check the following guide to Listen to music on Google Nest speakers and displays and Link your music services and set your default service.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Gabriela

Sadly, you did not understand the post. Your suggestions are not for this issue. I'm not surprised.

Hi ,

I appreciate you staying informed with me.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Google speaker. I also appreciate all the effort trying to resolve this. Let's see what I can do to get it working smoothly again.

If your Nest Hub display has personal results, Home screen, and notifications enabled, Ultrasound Sensing will display pending notifications on the ambient screen when you are nearby.

To turn Ultrasound sensing on or off, follow these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Select Devices or Favorites.
  • Hold down the tile on your device.
  • To enable sharing and recognition, tap Settings.
  • Switch off the ultrasound sensor.
  • Note: When your Nest display's microphone is muted, ultrasound sensing also stops working.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,

Gabriela

None of this applies. Sadly, you don't seem to understand the issue. After of couple years of this I'm no longer surprised. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I’m sorry to hear that the inconvenience is still not resolved.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this with your Google speaker. I also appreciate all the effort trying to resolve this. I will be happy to assist you this time.

Please assist me by responding to the following questions so that I can better grasp the situation:

  • Do you have more speakers or displays? If yes, are the other devices experiencing the same issue?
  • Does the issue occur only when you are playing music?
  • Have you tried another music service? If so, could you confirm with me if the issue is still the same?
  • Does your device produce a crackling, buzzing, or static sound just when you are playing music, or does it happen using voice command?
  • Is the speaker device physically damaged? If so, what part of the speaker is damaged?

If you have more questions, please feel free to write in this post.

Regards,

Gabriela

Half speakers and have displays more or less, 11 of them in all.

Yes, when playing music.

Yes, tried several, and yes the problem is with the hardware.

Noticed with music, especially base tones.

No, all the devices are in new condition and never experienced any damage and no excessive use. Old people with clam music and medium to low volume.

Now FIX THE DARN DEVICES!
