Nest speakers no longer streaming radio stations

Frank911

Hello,

Yesterday my 4 nest speakers stopped being able to stream radio stations.  When I ask them to play 90.1, for example, I get the response that it is playing followed by: "something went wrong, when you are ready, give it another try."

I have restarted all speakers--even unplugged for half an hour--as well as restarting my Google wifi routers.  I can stream from Youtube music no problem, but also cannot use voice commands to skip to the next song.

Thanks

Try going to the provider's website to see if it's playing there. It might start again in a few days. Maybe the radio station hasn't paid for its subscription.

No station will play. I can listen on phone, just cannot connect via speakers.

The issue seems to be with Google, as no station will play when I ask. A workaround is to cast from my phone to the speaker group, but that’s somewhat inconvenient.

In regards to radio stations eg. 2NURFM 103.7: with Google I have to say "Play 2NURFM" but with Alexa I have to say "Play 103.7"

I have the range problem.  Have tried everything suggested.  I will be throwing this thing out and getting Alexia at this stage!

Looks like the issue is with voice commands for any music. If I ask it to play anything I get the “something went wrong” message. I can play music by opening youtube music on tablet, and voice commands work fine for changing the thermostat or turning off lights.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry for all the inconvenience caused. I'm happy to help.

In this situation, I suggest the following steps:

  • Make sure the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your speaker or display.
  • Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app.
  • Unlink and then relink the radio service. You can refer to the next article: Link your radio services.

If your speaker or display doesn't play the radio station you requested, try the following steps:

  • Ask for the station in a different way. For example, if the name didn't work, try the call sign or frequency.
  • Include more specific information, such as "on [radio service]," to your request.
  • When including the frequency, add the name of a nearby city. You can find more information in: Listen to radio on your Google Nest speaker.

If these steps don't work as expected, we appreciate you sharing feedback related to this radio issue. We're always looking for ways to improve.

Also, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot YouTube Music recognition issues:

  • Ensure your Google Home is powered on and plugged into a wall outlet.
  • Make sure your microphone isn't muted by tapping the microphone mute button on the back of Google Home.
  • Confirm that the LED lights on the top of Google Home turn on when you say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google."
  • If Google Assistant responds to other commands, try rephrasing your request for YouTube Music.

You can find more information in the next article: Fix YouTube Music issues.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Jenniffer

I asked Google to play music from a radio station. She says something went wrong try again later. This started a few days ago and I have rebooted my modem but still the same. Anybody also living in Western Australia having the same problem.

.

Try going to the provider's website to see if it's playing there. It might start again in a few days. Maybe the radio station hasn't paid for its subscription.

I have checked Tune in and Spotify on my Android phone and both working good. Asked Google home for music again, still say something went wrong try again later?

Did you try turning your Nest device off for 5 minutes?

What is your exaxct command?

To stream my local radio station 2NURFM 103.7: with Google I have to say "Play 2NURFM" but with Alexa I have to say "Play 103.7"

Having the same issue for over a week now… my google hub and google nests will not play the radio…. Is anyone still having the same issue.

Still having the problem. All solutions offered seem to think it is how I'm asking. If you try to unlink one of your speakers, or delete the group they are in you won't be able to. If you try casting YouTube music to your speakers from a phone or tablet, which does work, you will find that you cannot pause, skip songs, nor stop with voice commands. Hopefully Google will be able to figure this out.

I have four Google home 1st generation, and they all stopped playing music or podcasts by voice request yesterday.  I can ask for time, weather, or a joke and it's fine.  I can cast from my phone apps to the speakers without issue.  I suspect it's a Google server issue, but can't find anything online.

I was able to get my Google Home speakers to take music and podcasts requests again.  I had to delete my Home setup.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and then went through the setup again as if a new home.  The speakers would ask me to sign into my account which was now up again.  I had to reconnect to each speaker and redo custom routines.   It was certainly painful!!

Thanks, that worked! If anyone else tries this, please note that you will probably spend more than an hour resetting all your devices, so set aside a chunk of time.
