Old temperature

I ask my Nest to tell me the temperature in the morning and it tells me the temperature from the middle of the night, often 10+ degrees F colder than the temperature shown on my phone or the actual outdoor temperature.

This happens consistently. I don't really know why I even bother asking any more.

Can this be fixed?

Hi@rjplummer

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand your Nest device is giving you some confusing temperature readings, especially when you ask for the temperature in the morning and it tells you the temperature from the middle of the night, which is often 10+ degrees F colder than the temperature shown on your phone or the actual outdoor temperature. Don’t worry, let’s work together to get this resolved!

To better assist you. I’d like to know the following information:

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  • Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest device.
  • Plug them back in after 1 minute.
  • Restarting your phone might also help.

Once I have those details, I’ll send over the next steps.

Regards,
Beula

I had a thing the other day where it told me it was going to be 21° no matter what hour I asked about. Which I don’t think is possible. The temperature always changes one way or the other but it was the exact same forecast no matter what I asked for and then when I asked again like 10 minutes later it was totally different.

Hi @Lbw,

Thanks for reaching out the community. I understand you experienced an issue recently where the device reported a constant temperature of 21°, no matter what time you requested an update. I'm glad to help!

To provide further assistance, could you please answer the questions we previously asked?

We look forward to hearing from you.

I haven’t changed anything. It knows where I’m located. My Wi-Fi is fine. I even double checked with Siri and Alexa and they both had completely different information.

Hi @Lbw,

Thank you for those details. It’s definitely strange that Google is giving you different results than Siri and Alexa, especially with your Wi-Fi and location working correctly. Don’t worry; I’m here to help you get this sorted!

As a first step, let’s try these instructions to see if they resolve the behavior:

  • Perform a reboot on your device. If you have already tried that, please proceed with a factory reset. You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference:Factory reset your Google smart speaker or display
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app on your mobile device.
  • Verify your address in the voice assistant settings by following these steps:
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
    • Tap Home settings > Google Assistant (or Gemini for Home) > Your Places.
    • Verify that your home structure has the correct address.
  • If the issue persists after trying the steps above, please try creating a new "Home" in the app:
    • Open the Google Home app > Tap Add > Home > Follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep me posted.

Beula

it knows where I live, because it repeats the town back to me. I specifically asked what is the temperature right now. And then I asked what will be the temperature at 6 o’clock. If it didn’t understand me at all, it wouldn’t answer. So it has nothing to do with the command. I haven’t changed anything. It’s got nothing to do with my Wi-Fi. I’ve unplugged it and re-plugged it in and rebooted more times than I care to remember for all of the issues I have with this thing.

before the record, halftime I can’t even post a response on here without getting some kind of an error message.
