It only shows curated art

This happens when the photo frame cache doesn’t refresh after new albums are added. Try this: open the Google Home app → select your Nest display → Photo Frame → choose “Google Photos” → unselect your personal album → save → then reselect it again. After that, reboot the Nest Hub and make sure it’s updated to the latest firmware. This forces it to sync the correct album instead of stock photos.

Hi abiethedj,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand that your Google Nest Hub isn't displaying the slideshow of your pictures from your Google Photos album, and it is just showing stock pictures and curated art. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've already taken to resolve this. Don't worry, I'm here to help.

Thanks  for your contribution in this thread.

To get started, please provide some more information by answering these questions:

  • What model of Google Nest Hub do you have? Here is a Google Help Center article that can help you to identify your device: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Photo app?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, you can check this Google Help Center article to learn more: how to update the Google Home app.
  • Are you using an Android or iPhone device to manage your display?
  • Is your smartphone’s operating system updated?
  • What is the Nest Hub firmware version? You can use this help article as a reference: Find your device's firmware version
  • Are you having the same issue with other Google photo albums?
  • Is your album set as a “Live album only”?
  • Are all the photos in your album marked as “favorite”?

In the meantime, follow these troubleshooting steps to help solve the inconvenience with your photo frame:

  1. Verify whether Google Photos is enabled:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Select the home structure where your Nest Display is located.
    3. Select the Nest Display.
    4. At the top right, tap Settings, then select “Photo frame.”
    5. Choose the preferred photo source: Google Photos, Art Gallery, or Full Screen.
  2. Restart your router:
    1. Unplug the Wi-Fi router from the power source for 2 minutes.
    2. Ensure that the router's lights turn off completely when unplugged.
Note: Some routers have backup battery packs, so it will be necessary to disconnect the battery packs as well to ensure that the router is completely turned off.
    3. After 2 minutes, plug the router back into its power source.
    4. Once all the router lights are back on and you can find the network name listed in the Wi-Fi options on your mobile device or computer.
  3. Reboot the Nest Display:
    1. Unplug the power cord from the Nest Display.
    2. Leave it unplugged for one minute.
    3. Plug the power cord back in.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna

I’ve seen this happen before. Usually, re-selecting your personal album in the Home app and making sure the album has enough photos uploaded fixes it. Restarting the Nest Hub can also help the slideshow show your own pictures instead of stock images. For managing slides and presentation files across devices, I sometimes use SlideShare downloader tools to organize content efficiently — keeping everything synced really helps.
