I have several Nest Hub Max smart displays with the Nest Cam feature enabled. One of them resides in the "Kitchen" room of my Google Home structure. In the Nest app, the name appears as "Kitchen (downstairs)" for some reason, and the perfectionist in me wants to get rid of the "(downstairs)" at the end of the name.
In the Nest app, whatever you put in the Label field is what gets put in parenthesis at the end of a name, but when I use the Nest app to try to change the name in the Where settings for the device, the Nest app tells me "Use the Home App to update the location of your Nest Hub Max". However, when I go into the Google Home app, the device is called "Kitchen display" and resides in the "Kitchen" room. There is no mention of the word "downstairs" anywhere in the Google Home app.
I've tried moving the device to a different room in the Google Home app, but the Nest app still thinks it's called "Kitchen (downstairs)". Is there any other way to get the update the name in the Nest app to just be called "Kitchen"?

I have personally never seen this behaviour! My suggestion would be remove the device from the home entirely, factory reset it, and start fresh. There could be "Ghost settings" that are dragging the name along for the ride.

Thanks, that worked and was fairly painless.
