Hi folks,

Thanks for the details you provided, sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Our team is already aware about it and currently investigating the issue. We need your help in submitting feedback using your Nest speakers/displays. Check the steps below for guidance.

Step 1. Turn on device reports

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.
  2.  Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right corner of the screen, tap Settings Recognition & sharing.
  5. Turn on Send [device model] device usage and crash reports to Google. (Example: Send Google Home device usage and crash reports to Google.)

Step 2. Share your feedback

  1. Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then:
  2. “Send feedback”
  3. Use the keyword “GHT3 unable to stream <rte radio station> in from TuneIn”

Thanks,

Juni

Hey everyone,

I understand the ongoing frustration many of you are experiencing regarding the issue of not being able to play RTE Stations on TuneIn with your devices for some time now. Rest assured the team is aware of this issue and looking into this with our relevant partner. I know this may not be the answer you're looking for at the moment, but once we have new information to share, I'll update this thread.

If you haven't sent feedback, please do so by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback," followed by the keywords: "GHT3 Unable to stream <RTE radio station> in TuneIn"

We appreciate your patience.

Cheers,

Muddi

Radio Jackie 107.8 (SW London) has also stopped playing today. I wonder if the fault is connected?

@LovelyM @Muddi @Juni Now that this appears to be fixed (again), please Google, document what causes this issue and how to resolve it.

For the last week or so I've been unable to play any RTE radio channels (e.g. RTE Radio 1, RTE Gold, RTE Lyric FM) on my two Google Nests or on a Harman Kardon device with built-in Google functionality. When I say "OK Google, play RTE Radio 1" it eventually responds "Sorry, something went wrong". All other radio channels work fine. I've tried rebooting everything. I've also tried to cast the channels from my Android phone using both the TuneIn app and the RTE Radio app but without success. The channels play fine on Amazon devices.

I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem or has any suggestions.

I've since got a response from RTE:

"These issues are something we're aware of and we have been liaising with these third-party providers (Google, TuneIn, Apple) to identify what has changed and what resolution can be reached. Unfortunately, we have no information or timeline for a fix"

The response doesn't give confidence that this will be resolved any time soon 😞

@KinsaleUser

Appreciate that update. We'll be sure our Community team is aware of that as well.

Hi KinsaleUser - I've also been unable to cast RTE radio via TuneIn for the last week or so. It is good to know someone else has the same issue and that RTE have responded to you to acknowledge the issue.

I can still cast other Irish radio stations such as Newstalk and Today FM via TuneIn (which is great as you just have to OK Google it). As a short term solution, I am able to cast RTE radio from my phone with the Irish Radio Player app; however, it is much more cumbersome and takes around a minute to start working.

Newstalk doesn't work for me either

Thanks for trying, it's so frustrating, I'm literally playing it off my phone.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your help here, @JillG.

I want to make sure that you no longer have trouble playing any RTE channels with any of the Google Home or Nest devices. Our team confirmed with RTE and TuneIn that this issue is already fixed. If you still encounter some concerns, please let me know so we can address them right away.

This thread will be combined with the main post to communicate effectively. Check for recent updates in the main thread since, once merged, this will automatically be locked.

This issue had returned for me this weekend on multiple Google devices

Hi Kinsale

I have 4 different devices with same RTE and newstalk so it's not a device issue.   But it is a Google issue

It was resolved approx 3 weeks ago but is back now.

Not a good sign for future Google hardware purchases

I have the same issue! This is extremely frustrating. We got few mini nest for the whole house and now they we can't use them the way we wanted. Wonder if we can send them back if this issue is not resolved.

I have the same issue very frustrating,

Me too, hasn't been working for over a week now

Back with me too 15/03/2023.

Any feedback as to what the problem was?

Thanks to all who got involved

It's temporary unfortunately

This week i have been unable to play RTE radio 1 on the Nest Home. It also won't let me cast RTE 1 from my phone to the Nest Home either. RTE radio 1 will play on my nest speakers and my LG chrome speakers. On the display, it brings up TuneIn and plays the "TuneIn" and then tries to load the station but then stops.

I have also tried to load all the other RTE stations and they haven't worked.

  • What type of Google Nest speakers are affected by this?

Nest Home

  • What are the stations that are not working?

RTE Radio 1

  • What stations are currently working?

Newstalk fm, Today fm etc

RTE radio is no longer playing on tune in. I’d happily pay for tune in or another streaming service if I could get the most popular radio station in Ireland on my speaker.

anyone else have this issue?

Same... incredibly unreliable. I regret buying into the Google eco system. This is the response i just got back from Google support on Twitter "We know this is important to you, but our team is still in contact with our partners with this. Thanks for understanding."

Yes, same here, but this time there are other stations affected as well. The common denominator being Google and Tune In. BBC radio stations are unaffected as they use their own platform and are not dependant on Tune In. How long will it be out of order this time? What a terrible service from Google and Tune In.

I forgot to mention the date of this latest fault i.e. Saturday 25th of March 2023 because I notice that the problem gets buried with earlier problems and it is difficult to follow the most recent comments. The site is managed in a similar fashion to the way the problem is handled by Google!

Just adding an update for today Sunday 26th March 2023. Some of the radio stations that depend on the Tune In platform are back on my google speakers today e.g. Cork 96FM, Red FM, Radio Kerry. OTHER THAN RTE i.e. RTE stations are still not available to me via my google speakers. The Google Nest Customer Care Team are working on it.........!

Another update for 1840 hrs Sunday 26th March 2023. All the radio stations that depend on the Tune In platform are NOT AVAILABLE AGAIN on my google speakers e.g. Cork 96FM, Red FM, Radio Kerry, plus the RTE stations which haven't been available since this latest fiasco began. This is terrible customer service from Google who have made no effort to explain what is causing the problem, and what they propose to do about it. Any normal service industry would at least give their customers some indication of when they could expect a restoration of services that are not working. This is not an isolated case involving a few customers, there are many customers affected including I am sure the "silent majority". The only silent objects in our house are the google speakers.
