RTE Radio Stations not working on Nest Hub - January 2023

The RTE radio stations have stopped working on the Nest Hub again. It started yesterday 11/01/23. Working on all nest speakers. It includes RTE Radio 1, 2FM etc

System firmware version: 9.20221010.3.176

Cast firmware : 1.67.330920

Thanks for the details you provided, sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. Our team is already aware about it and currently investigating the issue. We need your help in submitting feedback using your Nest speakers/displays. Check the steps below for guidance.

Step 1. Turn on device reports

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Chromecast, or speaker or display.
2.  Open the Google Home app .
3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
4. At the top right corner of the screen, tap Settings Recognition & sharing.
5. Turn on Send [device model] device usage and crash reports to Google. (Example: Send Google Home device usage and crash reports to Google.)

Step 2. Share your feedback

1. Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google," then:
2. “Send feedback”
3. Use the keyword “GHT3 unable to stream <rte radio station> in from TuneIn”

Update 27th March 2023 2000hrs. For anyone who might rightly have given up hope that this would ever be fixed. The RTE radio stations are now available on your google speakers!!! Hallelujah.... For how long will this be the case??? No explanations from those responsible for this fiasco as far as I am aware.

Thanks .. back for us too .. but I have zero faith that this will be stable. I emailed RTE today and got a reply saying the were trying to identify the cause with Google and Tunein .. hmm

Just silence now on all radio stations. What an absolute joke of a thing. Seeing if I can bring it back. Waste of time of a yoke. I've my wireless going again. 2023 hah

The gaps between these outages are getting shorter. As with the last time, it is possible to cast RTÉ radio from the Irish RadioPlayer app but not from the TuneIn app.

When is this going to be resolved? Google at least provide some explanation as to why this keeps happening. A complete transfer to Amazon devices is looking like the only option due to the unreliability of Google / TuneIn services

My wife is not too happy with me at the mo, considering I was the one who gave the kitchen wireless the elbow for this new fangled Google Nest thing. Life in the space age huh ?

Seriously Google team, you need to sort out the issues with tune-in or whomever is causing the issue. At least acknowledge the latest outage !

Once again, RTE Radio will not stream on Nest Devices.

Previously, this was a TuneIn only issue, but now it is also not working with the Irish Radio Player app.

I was listening to RTE Radio 1 yesterday evening and it just stopped playing (Friday 24th March at around 7.30pm).

Since then, the 'hey Google, play RTE Radio 1' command just results in silence.

This time, there is no 'something went wrong, please try again'.

Furthermore, the Irish Radio Player app will not stream RTE radio from my phone, as it did previously when TuneIn stopped working the last time.

This is an RTE only issue - all other Irish radio stations continue to work.

Same here.  Previously this issue occurred less than two weeks ago and took 6 days to resolve and it’s not working again.  Frustrating!

It appears to me that the situation has been resolved almost 12 hours ago and that these "merged" messages are probably confusing everyone ??? As far as I know the RTE Radio services have been restored on Google devices since 2000hrs (Irish time) yesterday (Monday 27th March). For how long this will be the case is anyone's guess. 🙂

I do understand why you merge threads, but it makes for a  very confusing user experience.

I created a new post because to me it was a new issue, as the Irish Radio Player app was also not working (but is also fixed now).

There are now problems with BBC radio stations on tunein on google nest so I feel you should leave this open

I've been able to stream BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live but it's streaming from TuneIn rather than directly from BBC Sounds - I'm in Ireland. There's a thread about this issue on @BBCSounds on Twitter - there's a response from Google posted yesterday saying they were working on a fix.
