RadioApp not loading on Google Nest Hub Max

SteveCairns

RadioApp will not load on my Nest Hub Max. Other nest devices in the same household are fine.
Has been working fine, but stopped within the last week or so. Responds to my voice command "Play 3AW' but then the loading process freezes. Other radio services seem fine (iHeartradio) works on the Hub max, but RadioApp does not.

Contacted Google support via email ... the suggested the usual reboot and update solutions ... no change. Opened a chat to Google support, nothing additional to help, but they did suggest to open a Feedback on the issue through the Google home app. When enough people report the same issue, it gets the attention of the next level support people, who should be able to resolve the issue.

** UPDATE **
This is a Google issue ... probably a bug in a recent firmware upgrade that you have no control over.
If you are on firmware level 26.20250116.103.2201 you will probably have the problem.
It is a worldwide issue for Nest Hub devices. Google are aware and some users in the UK have recently reported their problem has been fixed. Hopefully just a matter of time before they roll the fix out to us in Australia ... keep checking.

** UPDATE 2 **
Working here in Melbourne on Friday 2nd May at 9:45am. Was not working at 6:45am.
Seems ok for 3AW , 2GB , 6PR , ABC , GoldFM , Smooth FM , Nova , KIIS ...
...  but not for MMM , MMM Classic Rock , FOX FM , 3MP .  That is all that I quickly tried.
Interesting is that my firmware level has not changed for my Nest Hub Max. This suggests that there might have been as issue in RadioApp that they are progressively fixing up.

We will probably never know the root cause of the problem, but let's hope they get ALL the stations back ASAP.

I have exactly the same issue. Radio app on my Google Nest not working since 27/4/2025. Have tried a reboot and a reset but to no avail.

It's working again!

I am having the same issue as are other family members. So far no response from google

I did 3 factory resets and same result. Audacy freezes on Nest Hub Max, but works on google smart clocks. All other stations work.

Just have to be patient. Google problem takes time to fix but all working now after a week or more of no radio.

Hi John. I has the same issue. I emailed Radio App and they said it was a Google issue they were working on. In the past few days many ppl gave got radio app back working, including myself. If you are still experiencing trouble,  send radio app an email as it seems everyone has it working again. Cheers

Still no radio apps working on Hub Max as a part of a routine in the United States as of today, 5/4/25. Only TuneIn works on command on the Hub Max. Audacy, iHeart Radio and TuneIn work on smaller devices on command.

IHeart Radio working fine on Nest Hub, however, Audacy and TuneIn will not play stations. TuneIn will play the initial commercial (gee thanks! 😂) …but no music after that.

Same with mine, no radio and TuneIn plays the initial commercial and that's all 🤣

😑ugh so annyoing.  What are they doing about this?  It's going in a month!  😫

No doubt it must be frustrating. If your both using Tune-In then I wonder if what ever RadioApp did Tune-In hasn't.

The strange thing about all of this is as far I can see no one has actually posted what the problem is. But, it is as I suspected, something to do with the way the commercial plays.

Have you tried a non-commercial station? Oddly in Australia, the non-commercial stations (that seemingly no one actually listens too by the weight of posts in this forum) were all still working.

To deepen the confusion and mystery, I just tried an assortment of stations on Tunein. In Melbourne, for me, local and international stations all loaded just fine on Tunein. RadioApp also continues to be ok. At the moment I am unable to recreate the original problem with any stations or radio streaming apps.

They fixed it all in Australia.  Maybe working on it in segments.  Assume its a Google issue they know about and probably trying to fix one country at a time?

All of a sudden cannot stream Audacy radio on my google hub. It freezes and eventually goes back to main screen

Same issue here With Audacy and iHeartRadio. I was able to add a workaround using TuneIn and also adding a CUSTOM command in my routine to start playing a certain radio station using TuneIn instead of using the RADIO command within the routine.

I have numerous Google devices but on my nest Radio app no longer works. It does work on one of the speakers tho.  I've done a reboot and a reset didn't help. It always use to work.

I have the same issue. Is there somewhere I can go to look for updates? So annoying a it’s a community radio station and we rely on streaming number.

Thnx for your info. Cause I can't get mine to work since I got the new Google 9 pro XL last week. I just keep turning it on with the cast hoping it will correct itself lol...

I'm so glad to find out other people are having trouble. I'm tired of messing with it. And I'm not rebooting everything again. I bought all Google so it would work seamless. Hope I can figure it out.

I feel exactly the same way you do.  I rebooted the nest, the home app, removed everything, reinstalled, nothing.

I am able to play other things like I❤️ radio (Iheart radio). Very frustrating not to know what, why and when this will be fixed.

Same issue here with Planet Rock app, they've been pushing to download the Rayo app so I figured I should probably get around to downloading that, but neither works. Do we have any update on anticipated time to resolve?
