RadioApp not loading on Google Nest Hub Max

SteveCairns

RadioApp will not load on my Nest Hub Max. Other nest devices in the same household are fine.
Has been working fine, but stopped within the last week or so. Responds to my voice command "Play 3AW' but then the loading process freezes. Other radio services seem fine (iHeartradio) works on the Hub max, but RadioApp does not.

Contacted Google support via email ... the suggested the usual reboot and update solutions ... no change. Opened a chat to Google support, nothing additional to help, but they did suggest to open a Feedback on the issue through the Google home app. When enough people report the same issue, it gets the attention of the next level support people, who should be able to resolve the issue.

** UPDATE **
This is a Google issue ... probably a bug in a recent firmware upgrade that you have no control over.
If you are on firmware level 26.20250116.103.2201 you will probably have the problem.
It is a worldwide issue for Nest Hub devices. Google are aware and some users in the UK have recently reported their problem has been fixed. Hopefully just a matter of time before they roll the fix out to us in Australia ... keep checking.

** UPDATE 2 **
Working here in Melbourne on Friday 2nd May at 9:45am. Was not working at 6:45am.
Seems ok for 3AW , 2GB , 6PR , ABC , GoldFM , Smooth FM , Nova , KIIS ...
...  but not for MMM , MMM Classic Rock , FOX FM , 3MP .  That is all that I quickly tried.
Interesting is that my firmware level has not changed for my Nest Hub Max. This suggests that there might have been as issue in RadioApp that they are progressively fixing up.

We will probably never know the root cause of the problem, but let's hope they get ALL the stations back ASAP.

Just wanted to thank you @SteveCairns and others for your updating posts and following up with this issue. I would have lost my mind doing factory resets and endless troubleshooting thinking it was user error. So grateful it's fixed. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Yes thanks from me too

No worries Vicki

You are welcome Amber ... lots of comments and feedback from everyone got a bit of momentum to the problem.

I have the exact same issue in Los Angeles. I have multiple Lenova Smart Clocks with Google and Auda y works as normal, but it freezes on Google Home Max. Google replied, but didn't resolve my issue.

One more: Many many reports on forums in France that the Radio France radio app does not work any more on Nest Hub (2nd Gen for me, with 26.20250116.103.2201 even though was not on the preview firmware preview program). My Google Home Mini, Nest Mini, and Lenovo Smart Clock are all OK. Fingers crossed 🤞.

At least Toronto News and CHIF radio not working in Canada via Tunein through Google Home.. iHeartRadio seems to work tho.

Not working in San Francisco but able to do a workaround by opening KALW on a google mini and then doing a media transfer.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for this, I tried mine and hey presto it works as well, guess Google did something - we'll never know

Yep, seems to be progressively getting better around the world.
For me, the stations that were not initially working , are working now.
We may never know what the problem was
