When starting a routine on a NestHub or mini which includes playing the ambient/white noise/relaxing sounds these loop endlessly rather than stop after 1 hour which has until recently always been the case.
There are several threads already on this topic but as the community mods keep merging things it's become impossible to track.
One suggestion which keeps getting raised is that this is now an intended function by request of "user feedback.". I'd like to suggest that sounds like an incredibly unlikely situation(a lie). Why would anyone feedback that asking a sound to stop after a period of time is too much hassle and instead they want it to play endlessly with no means of customising the behaviour? Why would anyone at Google even spend time implementing that change and if they did why would they then find it impossible to provide both options to users? In addition why does this all still work fine (stop after an hour) when I start the routine on my phone rather than the hub?
It's also worth noting that when you set up the routine the following message is displayed:
Please could someone from Google explain wtf is going on and why this is just not getting any attention? It seems like such a basic thing but also something a lot of people use/rely on. Having to waste time trying to find an alternative solution with 3rd party apps for this while getting 0 support is just so poor.
Please could community mods not merge this thread or mark it as answered with the "user feedback" BS?

Any news on a serious answer to this? I'm still seeing new threads getting created and then merged or locked with no helpful answer to way to track a fix.

Hi paulmh5,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. We've heard feedback that turning off sleep sounds after one hour is insufficient for some of our users, so we made the decision to remove the end time. We're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution and we appreciate your patience.
We appreciate people who are keen on sharing their thoughts with us. We're always looking for ways to improve. If you want sleep sounds to stop after an hour feature agan, I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how.
Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Regards,
Juni

Hi.
Did you read any of my original message before replying to it?
All of my original questions stand and the only answer you have provided seems dubious at best. Please provide some sort of change log so we can see when this update happened because as I posted above it just seems so unlikely.
Locking these threads to try and make the problem go away is also incredibly unhelpful as it leaves users with no way to track the progress of a fix to this bug.

Hi paulmh5,
Thanks for the response. The feature for the sleep sounds is working as intended. We're glad to hear you're interested in the feature to turn ambient sound off after an hour. We don't have anything else to share right now, but stay tuned for more news and updates. You can check this link for updates about this feature.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Juni

Hi
If this is working as intended why does it say that the sound will stop automatically? I haven't seen a single post on here from any user thanking Google for making the sounds play endlessly. When will Google acknowledge this is a bug or at the very least a mistake that needs rolling back?

Hey there,
For ambient sound, Google made the decision to remove the end time based on user feedback. This behavior is intended, and we're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution. Hope this helps explain!
Kind regards,
Dan

Please read my original post. It doesn't help or explain the situation at all, primarily because it makes no sense to the point where it's unbelievable.

Hi paulmh5,
Apologies for the delayed response.
We wanted to know how you were doing? As mentioned above, the functions and features that we're using are mostly feedback by customers. It would help us a lot if you could send feedback about it for our team to review.
Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Cheers,
Dan

I did add feedback the first time Google broke this as well as the 2nd time. I've now moved on to a different solution as it seems as you cant be trusted to keep basic functionality stable or deploy any common sense/testing when making changes.
