Hello, I see that this topic is a couple of weeks old, and I found it because I was experiencing the same problem on my Nest Hub. I wanted to let everyone know that I fixed it through the Google Home app. I went into the music services setting, then I selected "no preference." That seems to have fixed the issue. I've been playing music for the past hour with no repeats. Hope that helps everyone.

Tried that and while it doesn't repeat, you lose the ability to say what you want to hear. The command play 60s classic rock gets you three songs then repeats the second two. Trying what you said and using the above command started out with kid rock, and even saying play country classics still got me kid rock.

When I did this and asked it to play a song it told me I don’t have a preference set for a music provider and have to do that first

To rub it in,  now when I ask for songs I have to SPECIFY that I want it played as music, otherwise google tells me that I don't have any devices that can play video, which isn't even true.  And they're planning to raise the price of this "service"?

My is fixed now, I just ask my kid to play music, and after that it seems all right

Will be moving to Alexa system. Constantly looping songs for the last year, I cannot hear "more than a woman" one more time. You've ruined the beegees for me. Even tried disliking the songs on the app to force it to pick something different but no, for a year at least this has been the case. Also had to power cycle this useless device every night on a timed outlet as many mornings it wouldn't work after it lowered brightness. Using home hub

Totally agree, I'm about to be right behind you.  This is ridiculous.  They want to raise prices and yet still cannot provide the service consistently. It's becoming overpriced garbage and no amounts of complaints are being addressed here despite the many many posts. Not a **bleep** peep from any google employee whatsoever other than to tell us useless bs and ask for firmware numbers over and over. I can say this much,  if I were running google their jobs would be on the line for this!

I have the same issue with my google home mini speaker. Sometime in July (I believe) it started playing the same songs over and over. It is honestly so frustrating to be paying for this premium YouTube and getting such embarrassingly poor service.

"Hey Google, play some music" is the command I've been using for years now.

On top of the same few songs playing over and over, there has ALWAYS been the issue of poor quality, community uploaded versions of songs being played which have terrible sound quality or single channel audio so that a stereo channel is missing, the volume is too low to hear or its some bootlegger live version but those are quality issues for another thread.

Do better Google! $25 a month for this garbage service is not acceptable!!

Also, why the F isn't the technical information selectable so that I can copy it here if you want it for troubleshooting? FFS. Hit me up, you clearly need a competent product owner on these products.

System firmware version: 375114

Cast firmware: 2.57.375114

I am having this issue also. I have a Google Home Max.  Just now I said "Play What If by Jadakiss from YouTube Music". It played the song all the way through. Then it played a song by The Lox let's call it Song 2. Then it played a song by Dipset we'll call Song 3. Then it played a song by Jadakiss we'll call Song 4. It then went back and played The same song by Dipset that I called Song 3. I said "Ok Google, Next." It then went to The Song 4 I previously mentioned. I said "Hey Google, Next it went back to Song 3 again. This continued over and over as I tested.

I requested a refund for lack of services received.  Youtube responded by canceling my subscription which was at the  $10 price point.  Now to resub I have to pay $14 a month.  I asked for help and they are actually trying to rob me.

Doesn't surprise me.  I wonder how they'd react to a class action case?  You cannot charge someone for something they just plain aren't getting.  That is they by deception.

Also having this issue...the only reliable "fix" is to cast the songs yourself from another device to the Google device. Was maddening at first but now I find it kinda funny that my once clever screen has now gone stupid

I am also having the issue with my Google Nest and Nest Hub. Seems ok if I ask it to play via youtube but if I ask it to play x song it defaults to youtube music and gets into loop of the second and third song. I really liked google music and they killed that now with this being so bad I think it is time to switch to Alexa. Very disappointing.

Having the same issue. Is this being looked into? Pretty frustrating to hear the same 3 songs when we're actually paying...

I also have the same issue. Has it been resolved yet?

Started happening around the same time for me. I also happened to purchase a nest hub at the same time so I thought it was that device rather than a larger issue. With all the people reporting it starting around the same time I feel fairly confident that it's an issue on the backend rather than a specific device.

I agree.

However,  apparently they just don't care.

They've resorted to terminating accounts that dare to ask for a credit or refund.

Not one of their employees has made a real effort to resolve this. All we get is "what device and what is the firmware number?"

For a company the size they are,  they should be very embarrassed at their inability to provide and maintain a usable and properly functioning music service that doesn't rely on other people's uploads to play Playlist.

I've almost had it and am seriously about ready to jump ship to an echo dot and a subscription to pandora.

I'm getting exactly the same and am considering moving over to Spotify but unsure if the issue is with Google Home or YT premium. Anyone from Google care to comment

I switched to Spotify premium (no ads) & the repeat issues are in the rear view mirror. Go for it. 1 mo free then $5.99/month, cheaper than YT premium.

Hi Bigjerz10,

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear about that experience. Before we try some steps, a few things I'd like to ask-- when did you first notice this change? Are you using a premium YouTube account?

Let's try first some of these commands and observe if it will give you the same results:

  • "OK Google, play music from my library on YouTube Music"
  • "OK Google, play music from <name of playlist> on YouTube Music"
  • "OK Google, play music by <name of artist> on YouTube Music"

Let me know if these commands work.

Best,

Princess

Hello Princess, yes I am using YouTube music Premium. This issue only happens when I ask for specific songs. If I ask for a playlist the whole thing plays. I'd I ask for a genre it just plays.  If I ask for a specific song then I get the error. If I ask for an artist I get the error.  The first time I remember it was around July.

Hello there,

Thanks for the info you've shared. Let's try performing a complete reset to your Google Nest speakers and see if this would fix the issue.

As soon as you're done, try the same commands and see if it makes any difference on its behavior.

Keep me posted!

Best,

Princess

Hello Princess. That is the first thing I tried. Twice. I also tried clearing cache.

This is affecting lots of people, I have same issue no matter what commands are used. Usually you could ask for a song and then you would get similar songs played afterwards. Now I am lucky if I even get 2 other songs before being repeated! Same if ask for a specific singer, whatever happened to just having auto play like YouTube on everything else?

OMG!  "PRINCESS" ! Are you serious??? THAT'S ALL YOU'VE GOT?  This is obviously an automated response, because I've seen the same thing several times in this thread!  Google, just admit that your product is a piece of crap and there is no fixing it!  You are just stringing your customers as long as you can in order to get that monthly premium! You ought to be ashamed!  I'm not only canceling my YouTubeMusic, but YouTubeTv as well!  See ya later!

Why are you just repeating the same steps to people??? THIS IS CLEARLY an issue on Google's side effecting thousands including me. How about you isolate and fix the issue on your end and tell us how to FIX IT??

Just paused my account until suck time as the address this issue. I'm not going to continue paying for service not recieved. If it goes much longer I'll become a former customer and most definitely won't be back.

I am experiencing this issue. My nest hub max is playing the same two songs on repeat. If I tap the screen to view to queue other songs are listed. If I tap on them it will pay one song and then return to the first pair, which appear back at the start of the queue.

Firmware version is 11.20230306.3.139

Has there been any resolution here? I am having same issue for weeks now and it’s driving me crazy! Never happened before this

I will answer this question.

NOPE. NADA. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

AND THEY DON'T CARE!

Might as well jump this sinking ship!

I did a chat with Google support. It took awhile but I got resolution. She suggested I switch providers, changed to Spotify premium & am finally happy again after several maddening months.

Starting to think that the lights are on but nobody is home with Google support team.

This matter has gone beyond ridiculous.

We are all paying for a service that Google either cannot or will not deliver while at the same time raise prices while cutting quality.

This is happening on my Google home mini with YouTube premium.

Right now it is repeating the same 2 songs over and over.

I have been experiencing this for maybe 4 weeks now. I have started telling it to play the next song and it may be good for about 4-5 songs and then starts repeating.

This is on a Nest Mini Gen. 1. I have not tried it on my Hub which is also a Gen 1 but is not convenient for this as it's in the bedroom

Mini cast fitmware is 2.57.375114

System firmware 375114

I always say "hey Google, play some music"

I have just done 2 things. I cleared the memory from the Youtube music app on my phone and rebooted my Nest mini. I now seem to be getting fresh songs. Usually my stream would start with the usual same songs.

I will update when I have more evidence one way or another.

It's already repeating within 10 songs. It's always the same particular songs on any given day.\

I had the same issue for a few months, tried resetting Google home to no avail. Today I switched from YT premium to Spotify premium & NO REPEATS!!! Let me say that again, NO REPEATS. I also got premium free for 1 month. I think the issue was with YT music. I finally got someone at Google today who suggested I change providers. So glad I did. I was ready to trash my Google Home
