None of this has worked.  I don't believe this is a hardware issue.  It happens on multiple devices in my home.  This is a software issue.  Can you please address it as such.  Thank you

Has there been a fix for this.  I ask my google device to shuffle a play list and it plays about 7 songs then repeats the same 7 songs

Mntom

No, been broken for almost 6 months for me.

Where are the updates? It's late February. Did I miss them?

The other day my premium not only was repeating but it also started playing advertisements as well.

Here is the solution that fixed mine:

I web chatted with some idiot that wanted me to uninstall youtube music from my PC even though it works fine on there. I tried and nope, so what i did?

I canceled my subscription and got a subscription for Spotify. Well Spotify sucks and does not have all the artists i like, so i then the next day canceled my free month with spotify and renewed my youtube music subscription. When i got home that day and asked google to play music, it did not repeat 1 song.

So, cancel your subscription then renew, that worked for me.

The problem is the same with free accounts. Than you can't can't cancel anything.

Did you try @RayG1 's solution? It worked for me across all my devices.

"In the Home app on my Android device, I changed my music provider to "no default provider" (Settings/ Services/ Music) and then changed it back immediately to YouTube Music and it has been working fine ever since. "

No I didn't try this yet.
Thanks for sharing, I will try this.

Experiencing the same issues. YouTube Music on Google Nest displays and speakers will play a few songs and then repeat one song until told to stop. If you use a Nest display to try and go to the next track or the voice command "Next track" the looping song just starts again.

Just to add to this I also get the problem on my Pixel Tablet when its operating in Hub mode.

Ours has improved a little of late but still getting problems.

devedsmith

I have exactly this same problem and also in my case it plays the playlist and then gets to a track and starts repeating that track over and over without shuffling to the next track.

Removing YouTube Music from the home app as your music service, closing the app and then selecting it again after seems to have corrected the issue for some reason. Not sure how long it will last.

We are not using an app. We are asking the Google speaker the play a YouTube Music playlist.

In that case the google speaker uses the app of Youtube Mucic 😉

As was I when I first encountered this problem.  But I was able to go into the Google home app on my phone and remove YouTube music as my music provider. Then after closing the app and reselecting it again it started working properly.

Mine stopped repeating since a few weeks now.
At first I did not mention it here, because there were days before that it did not repeat but started again the next day.
I don't know how it happened...

I sent an email to the helpdesk of youtube (presuming it was related to them too, because my both speakers Xiaomi and google nes had the issue).
Someone of Youtube replied with a mail, telling they never heard of this problem and wanted to help but had to look closer what caused it and would contact me later when they knew more.
I did not recieve more information meanwhile, but -as I contacted them with my mailadress that I use for Youtube- I presume they fixed it? It's just a guess...

I use the app in the car and this issue started happening just before Christmas.
I have cleared the cache, restarted my phone, reinstalled the app...NOTHING CHANGES!

I pay for the premium to skip the ads, but Amazon Music is looking better and better each day.

Did you try @RayG1 's solution? It worked for me across all my devices.

"In the Home app on my Android device, I changed my music provider to "no default provider" (Settings/ Services/ Music) and then changed it back immediately to YouTube Music and it has been working fine ever since."

I tried that and had the problem reoccur later that day. Glad to hear it worked for you.

I can't believe anyone is still having this issue. It's been fixed. Have you contacted Google?

rj63

It cannot have been fixed if people are still getting these problems. Contacted Google? Google is clearly not interested as they are not taking part in the process.

Nik3

As the problem occured as well on my xiaomi speaker as on my google nest mini, and only while playing music on youtube and not on spotify, I contacted the helpdesk of Youtube. Since then it seems fixed for me. But I agree that Google could help too if they contacted youtube. After all both of my speakers work with google home.

Erinlynn

It's been fixed for most people, that's why I suggested contacting Google. Google even stated it's been fixed.

Erinlynn

It's also been fixed for me

Just to give an update to my previous post.

The issue fixed itself about a week after I posted this. All listed fixes here did not work for me.

However, the issue returned in an intermediate fashion.

I can search a song and a Playlist will generate. This list would go for a while.

However, the next search may only generate a few songs and then repeat those songs.

I noticed that the longer Playlist would occurr with more independent music or lesser known music.

Some of the larger names would generate the shorter playlist.

Not sure if that really has anything to do with it, but that is what I am seeing as of now.

WinAmp has shuffle features that prevent this problem. There are options to "Do not repeat the same artist in a row" and "Do not repeat the same song title in a row". There are other options that really make the Shuffle feature great to use. It's unfortunate that Google doesn't make truly great apps when they have every resource they could possibly need.

Mine just started doing this again recently as it was working properly for a few months.

Hard to believe that this issue keeps occuring.

I've had this issue for a month or so now. Google needs to fix this crap. They raise the prices on us and give us a crappy product. Good luck keeping customers that way

devedsmith

I've tried all of the above suggestions and after about a week or so, the problem starts again. Premium account here too.

Having the issue since I got a YouTube premium account and so far it has not been fixed. If I ask my Nest Mini to "shuffle my favourite songs", it acknowledges the command and starts playing random songs from my Liked Music playlist. A handful of songs later (and the number varies with each try), it'll start to repeat the songs played earlier in a loop, as if they were in a playlist of their own. Been like that for well over an year, and none of the workarounds posted here or elsewhere I looked fixed it.

To add salt to the wound, continued conversation doesn't work either. If I tell my Nest to skip, for instance, it'll completely ignore me and just keep playing whatever it is playing. Mind you, I give the command within the (rather small) time window during which the speaker keeps listening after receiving the initial command. Truth be told, Google is making a rather compelling case for me to get an Alexa.

Erinlynn

A couple things.. have you any time recently updated both YouTube and Google?

Also, the nest will automatically shuffle the music it knows you like just by saying "play me some music". Why do you specifically ask it to shuffle? I have no idea if that could be a problem, just a thought. Good luck!

MateusC

Both apps are up to date, and things work fine when I give the same command to my phone. My Nest also reports no updates available.

I use that specific command for no particular reason other than to constrain the songs to be played to the ones that are in my "Liked" playlist. Still, even when using the more common "Play me some music" command things don't work as expected. And to answer the point you made in your reply below, I too disconnect my Nest from the wall often, though not after every single use. The issue rears its head back every single time, sooner or later. And, of course, continued conversation is still not working right on top of that.

I think the reason this thread has gone quiet is because a lot of people just gave up on it. It's a problem so old, and Google's/YouTube's attitude towards it has been so cavalier, that asking for a solution seems like shouting to the void.

I'm not suggesting that those who are still having issues aren't- but above messages even say it's been fixed for them as well. (As myself) That's why I was wondering if perhaps it's a different issue entirely. Or, if their fix somehow missed a region or set of nests.. I don't know. But I know for many of us, the problem was fixed when Google said it was. And I never tried any of the fixes brought up here.. I simply waited. That's why I suggest talking to Google. I really hope things work out..

Oh- I have Alexa and a Nest in my home.. Alexa not only seems to have a hearing problem (I'm sorry, can you repeat that) when there is no noise and I'm not twenty feet away, but the commands are vastly different, and getting it to connect to apps as well as simple things like getting your daily news, is a hassle in comparison. Alexa is really only good for asking questions.. but even that comes back as if I asked something else entirely. Maybe it's because it doesn't use Google search..

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Google never said the problem was fixed, in fact Google never acknowledged that there was a problem. Some users have found a workaround that works for some time (remove youtube as your source for music then re-add it) but the problem is still there and, even using the pseudo fix, comes back again a day or another and you have to make the same operation again !

Erinlynn
Community Member

They did. They even spoke about it here. It was addressed, and the problem was fixed for the majority. Don't know the difference between why some people are having issues (or still having them) but Google addressed it.

Mntom
Community Member

No, they didn't.  Show the thread where someone from Google acknowledged the problem and says they fixed it.  It doesn't exist.

There were community members that had "solutions" akin to clapping your hands three times and spinning in a circle (e.g. setting default music app to nothing then changing it back to YouTube music).  But there's not been any actual support directly from Google and this has never been fixed, it's still a problem for a lot of people.

People just gave up because Google's presence and support is non-existent.

Erinlynn
Community Member

They did.. but I'm not going to get into an argument or be told I need to "prove" anything. It was fixed for myself, and many others. That's just a fact. Good luck.

Mntom
Community Member

Ok, I'll just take your word for it with nothing actually backing up what you're claiming *rolls eyes*.

You won't get into a "prove" it situation because what you're claiming is patently false.

Treps
Community Member

No they didn't !

If so please give us a link to the post from someone from Google acknowledged the problem, and better the post where they announced an official fix !

I've been subscribed to this thread for months, I read every mail hoping for support from google but it never happened !

The so called fix is just a workaround brought by some users like you and me that sometimes work but nothing like a real fix by google (or the YouTube team) !
