I have my bedtime routine set up to ask what time google should set my alarm as my work schedule differs from day to day, so I can’t just set my routine to set an alarm for the same time every day. On my Nest Hub, I’ve changed my alarm clock settings to include a sunrise alarm (without the gentle wake sounds). However, every night after the routine is done, I still have to go on the Nest Hub and manually turn on the sunrise alarm. This is just extremely annoying to have to do every night and I was wondering if there was a way to set my routine so google knew to automatically turn on the sunrise alarm feature with my alarm clock?

Hi aloha808,
Thanks for reaching out. On Nest displays, you can set alarms to gently wake you up. When a sunrise alarm is set, the screen will gradually brighten until it is time to wake up.
Let me know if these steps work.

Princess

Hi Princess,
Thanks for your response! I know how to turn on the sunrise alarm on the google display manually, but I was wondering if there was a way for it to automatically turn on with the routine? I have my Nest Hub setup across the room and my bedtime routine is set to turn off the room lights and ask what time I’d like for my alarm to be set the next day (with the intention of me being in bed about to go to sleep when I initiate the routine). However, I’ve been instead starting the routine, waiting for the lights to turn off and alarm be set, then manually turning on the sunrise alarm, then having to find my way through the dark back to my bed. At this point it completely defeats the purpose of the routine. I was hoping for a way to turn on the sunrise feature WITHOUT having to be right next to my Nest Hub display. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey aloha808,
Thanks for clarifying. You might want to check these steps on how to create personal routines without having to be right next to your Google Nest Hub.
Important: To get results like calendar events and commute info, you must turn on personal results.
You can find your new Routine in the list under "Your Routines." This list also includes some ready-made Routines that you can edit.
Note: "I'm home" and "Leaving home" are both ready-made personal Routines that don't use presence sensing. To create household Routines that start when everyone's away or someone comes home, set up Home & Away Routines.
Some examples of personal Routines:

Thanks for the info, but like I said before I already have a routine set. I don’t need help setting the routine as I’ve already done so and part of the routine is having google ask me what time I’d like my alarm to be set for. What id like to know is how to get it to turn on the sunrise alarm automatically. So far, I’ve been prompting the routine, but whenever google sets my alarm, the sunrise alarm function is NEVER turned on and I’ll have to go and manually turn it on on the Nest Hub display, which, in my opinion defeats the purpose of the routine. I am trying to figure out a way to turn the sunrise alarm function on WITH the routine so that I don’t have to constantly turn it on myself on the device.

Hello again,
I know it must have been of some concern doing all those things however, I need to ask a little bit more from you since we now need to factory reset your Google Nest Hub to revert it back to its default and original settings. Your account will not be affected but you need to set up your Nest Hub again. Click this link and follow the steps and tell me how it goes.

Dan
