Timer no longer displays

HarryHawblitzel

When I first got my Google device, when I set a timer it would display the actual timer as it counted down. Now, it displays the current time only even though it runs the timer. I don't like having to ask for the time remaining, is there any way to restore the timer display to the original configuration.

Hi HarryHawblitzel,

Thanks for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you have having issues with the timer not displaying on your device. I understand your concern and would be more than happy to help.

I just tried asking my devices to set a 1 minute timer and a 20 minute timer. Both times the timer was displayed on the screen the entire time, so I am not sure why you are encountering this issue.

As this feature of the timer being displayed still works, let's see if there is some troubleshooting we can do to the device itself.

  • Could you please try to do a reboot and Factory Data Reset on your device? Are there any improvements?
    • A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings.
    • Note: This action will clear your data from the device and can't be undone.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue and thank you for your patience. Let's get this issue resolved!

Hi All,

It's been a few days since we have heard from you. Just checking to see if  you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you.

Yeah, the suggested fixes didn't work. I just went ahead and got a $17 timer from Amazon which displays the countdown time so I'm not bothering with the Google display. It's probably outlived its usefulness by now anyway.

Hello HarryHawblitzel,

Thanks for your update. As always, if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to make a new post.
