Transit departures on Google/Nest Home

How do I get my Google Home devices (I have 2 Minis, 1 Home and 1 Hub) to display NYC subway departures?

This functionality was announced 5 years ago, but seems not to work anymore:

And starting today, NYC subway riders can take advantage of the Google Assistant’s new real-time transit feature with the MTA. On your Android phone, all smart speakers, or all Smart Displays just say, “Hey Google, when is the next 4 train arriving?” or “Hey Google, when is the next train?” Your Assistant will share the train’s ETA and provide walking directions to the station, making it easier to plan your commute.

When I attempt these commands now, the device just says “sorry I don’t understand.” 

Does anyone know how I can get these commands to work?

Thanks for posting in the Community.

I appreciate all the details you've shared. Could you try this command, "What time is the 5 am train from Station A to Station B?" or "How long will it take to get to [destination] by train?"

Is there a way to get it to tell me JUST the departure times of the subway? I don't need directions to a specific place. I just want to know when the next two or three trains are leaving.

The request would be, How much time is remaining until the next Manhattan bound train is departing the nearest train station for [train line #] ?

No, that didn't do the trick, unfortunately. Google just replies "sorry, I don't have any information about that."

I know that it would be helpful for many to have that available on our Google Nest speakers. Upon checking, here are the only available options relating to getting directions and commute information:
