Unknown error trying to voice control a device with my Google mini

Although I can control my devices from the home app, when I voice command either of my two Google minis, the response is "there was an unknown error with the {device.name}". I've tried all the recommended solutions except for uninstalling and reinstalling the app, which I really don't want to do since I've got routine set up and I don't want to clobber them for no good reason. Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden it wasn't. And I don't recall making any changes that would have brought upon this bad behavior. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s troubleshoot your devices.

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap one of your Google Home Mini devices > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Back to Devices, scroll down to Other Cast/Local Devices > Tap the Google Home Mini you removed > Add to a room. Follow the instructions in adding it back to a room.
  • Unplug the power cord for a minute > Plug back in.
  • Give it a voice command.
  • If the issue persists, factory reset your Google Home Mini.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex

i am dealing with the same issue.  i have rebooted the router twice but still the same.

Also when you use the google assistance app to command devices via text it seems to work but not the verbal commands to the google minis

This actually worked!  I had to rest all of the Google devices to factory settings allowed the Smart Life devices and connect!!
