Using a JBL Speaker to act like a Google Mini in another room?

Hi Forum, I have some LIFX Lights around my home and have connected them to my Google Mini in my lounge.

I also have some LIFX lights in a separate room where I can't speak to the Google Mini (too far away).

I also have a JBL Speaker that will answer q's play music etc and I wondered if it can be linked to the Google Mini so that no matter where you are, you can turn lights on or off.

I'm not sure whether the JBL speaker can do this or if I should but another Google Mini and put it in a Nest' so I can wander around & turn lights on & off as I need.

Can someone advise me here & if the Nest is part of the answer, send some links to useful set up videos.

All help welcomed.

Thanks Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for reaching out. That is a great question! I would be more than happy to help find a solution to get your lights and speakers all connected.

My best suggestion to your situation is making a speaker group.

With a speaker group:

You can group any combination of Google Nest or Home speakers and displays and Chromecast devices together for synchronous music throughout the home (which you are trying to do). Your music and audio from Chromecast-enabled apps are instantly available to stream.

However, it is important to note that compatible devices include Google Home, Google Nest Mini (2nd gen), Google Home Mini (1st gen), Google Home Max, Google Nest Audio, and Google Nest displays, Google Nest Wifi point, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast Audio, and devices with Chromecast built-in.

Here is a link explaining the speaker groups feature.

Feel free to search on YouTube, speaker groups. There are many helpful videos that explain and demonstrate the feature.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you!
