Hey all,
Apologies for the confusion around the supported devices for speaker groups. We let the right teams know, and we can confirm that speakers with Chromecast built-in are supported. We've also updated the list of supported devices on our Help Center article "Create and manage speaker groups" to make it more specific than before.
Thanks for your feedback here in the community -- feel free to update the thread if you have any further questions!
Cheers,
Muddi

Hey folks,
Sorry for the delayed response. Please note that there are selected TVs that are compatible or can be added to the speakers group with your Google Home/Nest devices. You may want to check with your manufacturer if your TV is one of those devices.
For now, we can only guarantee that the devices listed on this link will work best when grouped together.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi

Ok, devices with Chromecast built in (like my android tv) are no longer supported. Doesn’t explain why I can’t add my Nest hub or Nest hub max to the speaker groups anymore.

Hey folks,
I know that this is not the answer that you are looking for. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. Also, you can send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback" or by following the steps on this link. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
@Marifi: I suggest that you create a new thread as your concern is different from the posted issue here. Visit this link to learn more about creating a speaker group.
Cheers,
Muddi

How easy it is to lock and put that as a solution , looks good on you, but let me assure that your solution it is not even close to be one, I highly recommend to leave the thread open until a capable person is able to find a viable solution,
Thanks!

Hello
Don’t close it, it’s not a solution or a valid answer. It’s good for your stats but not for costumers….
thanks

You did nothing to resolve the issue, and you're saying it "looks like we can consider this one complete" ?? Locking the thread, without addressing the concerns that have been very clearly laid out, but ignored by you and other Google staff for well over a year? What part of your "solution" are you thinking resolves the bug? Are you kidding me?
11-13-2022 06:03 PM
exactly. Nothing was resolved. The problem ignored. The only thing we know: It is not supported.
11-13-2022 06:07 PM
You are changing the game here. It is not an Answer to my question. This topic has clearly become the core topic of people to find for this problem, and you simply close it and say: open a new one where you define your core problem more clearly?
11-13-2022 06:28 PM
As question owner, can you un-mark their response as a "recommended answer?" Seems hasty at best that they can just mark their own "answer" as helpful and call it a day. Nobody here was helped.
11-14-2022 08:26 AM
unfortunately not. At least I can't tell where.
11-14-2022 04:03 AM
@Muddi Do not close this thread. You have not provided a solution. You haven't even addressed the question adequately.

I totaly agree with the ultimates responses.
You realy don't understand the problem @Muddi ?
This Is very simple : we can't add our chromecast embeded in Android TV in a speaker group !
Thanks for not closing this thread !
Best regards

Your answers have not solved the problem. We, your customers have invested thousands of dollars into your good name, which is now proving to be undeserved. Perhaps it is time you put your good name on the line and answered to the needs of your many unhappy customers here. I am going to place this thread onto your reviews, and advise other unhappy customers to do likewise, so buyers can be aware of the poor customer service. Perhaps taking down your company's good name and showing the truth is the only way to get through to you folks.

Please leave this thread open. Google has not solved the problem. Instead, it simply changed its goalpost. People who have taken the time out of their lives to report this issue already have spent dollars on buying your products (or the products you proudly put your logo on, saying WITH CHROMECAST BUILT-IN).

"We don't answer any of our question and automaticaly set it as the best answer, but of course feel free to ask if you have further questions"
you must be the fourth to say something like that, the topic last since more than a year with more than 200 posts. So yeah i have a question :
Can we get a real support for a real problem, without reply with a faq link who give false infos and absolutely not helping on what seems a TECHNICAL issue ?
Or, at least, tell us why it's not possible to fix it (in the case the technical team is aware of the issue, which i even doubt at this point) ?
Is this even possible to have a real support rather than copy-pasted ones ?

that is not an adequate answer. Why does tv's chromecast buil-in not work for speaker groups? Many users have bought a google tv just to have this functionality. Modifying the documentation to include which devices chromacast built in works on is not a solution.
12-20-2022 03:01 PM
This does not help as the TV is not listed under devices when creating a new speaker group.
12-23-2022 10:31 AM
TVs are not? 2022 Sony Bravia doesn't work.
12-27-2022 05:52 AM
This does not seem like a solution, I am still not able to see my Google tv in the list of speakers you can add to a speaker group.
01-13-2023 06:09 AM
Hi, has the KB been updated again? It now says some TVs - so which ones? Where can we find an accurate list of minimum system requirements?
04-08-2023 06:23 PM
I have the same exact problem with my TLC TV. It honestly doesn't appear that anyone has any real solutions. My TV is supposedly on a supported Chromecast version, and connect to the exact same WiFi network, but still not showing up at all. What's the deal?
10-07-2023 03:55 PM
Hi there. Does the Hisense Google Tv not work with the speaker groups?
09-13-2022 07:54 PM
quick update. now google tv dongles won’t work as part of a speaker group anymore either. you can add them to a speaker group still, but you cannot use the speaker group. it will not work. the speaker group will not function at all anymore if a google tv dongle is part of it. so now, anyone who was suckered into buying a tcl or sony tv with google tv built in and had to be suckered into buying a google tv dongle as well just to achieve what was expected from the first purchase, has now been suckered TWICE! and they now can’t even use either device as part of a speaker group!
09-14-2022 01:24 AM
truly fascinating isnt it? I bought a google compatible speaker as well and TV because it was advertised that it would work. and it just doesn't.
Only after months of research do you realize youve been scammed.

This situation is a shame
09-14-2022 06:18 AM
Since this did work earlier, and now they removed the feature, I am guessing it has to do with the Sonos lawsuit where Google was infringing on the Sonos patents when it comes to group audio, and they had to either remove the feature (like they did with the Home app - they had to strip out some of the group volume controls), or pay Sonos royalties. Google took the first route, and never made any public statement acknowledging it, and still won't, even though people are complaining and asking for it to be fixed. If Google does enable it again, they would have to pay Sonos, so they are just choosing to remain silent on it. This is just my hypothesis, I could be wrong, but seems to be the most likely scenario.
09-14-2022 06:21 AM
FWIW, I did move my home audio over to Sonos, and such a better experience. More expensive yes, but the audio quality is much better, and you don't have to deal with any of this garbage.

would be hilarious if I would accept Princess answer as a Solution 😄

- dozens of people complaining because they can't put their TV on speaker group
- princess: have you tried putting your TV in speaker group via the button "create speaker group"
- OP: oh god, no we never tried that, what a genius 😮

Just bought a Hisense Android TV, brand new Just came out, same issue. Built-in Chromecast doesn't act like a normal Chromecast, and can't add it to a speaker group. Is it really taking this long to fix this?
09-21-2022 06:36 AM
It's not that take long, it's probably hard to do or due to previous patent lawsuit.
So unless they announce a major update (which will likely be available for new devices).. And since Google tend to bury complex problems, I recommend you to consider it as impossible.
Or just to buy a separate chromecast rather than smart TV, which is almost useless atm
09-29-2022 08:06 AM
I suggest that we all post 1 star reviews on Amazon, Best Buy, and the manufacture's website citing the inability for the TV to be used in a speaker group. The manufacturers hate bad reviews and hopefully they will influence Google to fix this.
09-30-2022 06:50 AM
Post a 1 star review for the TV!
09-26-2022 03:09 PM
Did you receive any solution from sony ?
09-26-2022 05:28 PM
Hello
There is hope, I have a specialist working on the problem .
09-27-2022 12:45 AM - edited 09-27-2022 12:46 AM
Haha, so I see Sony’s answer is basically “Google’s documentation is wrong” and they’ve linked you back to this thread as evidence!

My previous post is gone,
i have an toshiba 4k android tv (43UA2B63DG) with same problem. Device is added in Google Home, but cannot attach as a speaker. Is there hope for my brand new TV?
fully updated, apps, system

It is not your tv model. It is specifically a google issue. They marketed it, but removed the feature. Considering the lack of response, it prolly will never happen.
09-28-2022 06:00 AM
Do we have any rights for updates? I buyed a new TV, and functions not working correctly.
